What date does the Traditional Day of Vietnam Veterans fall on?

According to Article 3 Decree 150/2006/ND-CP on the Traditional Day of Vietnam Veterans:

Traditional Day of Vietnam Veterans

1. December 6 annually is the Traditional Day of Vietnam Veterans.

2. The Veterans Traditional Day aims to:

a) Honor and commend the significant contributions of veterans in the wars of national liberation and defense, international missions, national construction, and protection, reflecting our nation’s tradition of “when drinking water, remember its source”;

b) Encourage generations of veterans to maintain and promote the tradition of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers,” actively participate in contributing to the construction and defense of the Fatherland; set an example in life, and be a bright example in educating the younger generation.

Thus, the Traditional Day of Vietnam Veterans is annually on December 6.

Are students entitled to a day off on Traditional Day of Vietnam Veterans?

Currently, there is no specific regulation regarding school holidays on the Traditional Day of Vietnam Veterans. Thus, students will follow the school and teachers' schedules for studying and holidays.

Under Article 112 of the Labor Code 2019:

Public holidays

1. Employees shall be entitled to fully paid days off on the following public holidays:

a) Gregorian Calendar New Year Holiday: 01 day (the 1st of January of the Gregorian calendar);

b) Lunar New Year Holidays: 05 days;

c) Victory Day: 01 day (the 30th of April of the Gregorian calendar);

d) International Labor Day: 01 day (the 1st of May of the Gregorian calendar);

dd) National Day: 02 days (the 2nd of September of the Gregorian calendar and the previous or next day);

e) Hung Kings Commemoration Day: 01 day (the 10th of the third month of the Lunar calendar).

2. Foreign employees in Vietnam are entitled to 01 traditional public holiday and 01 National Day of their country, in addition to the public holidays stipulated in Clause 1 of this Article.

3. The Prime Minister shall decide the specific public holidays mentioned in Point b and Point dd Clause 1 of this Article on an annual basis.

The Traditional Day of Vietnam Veterans is not one of the public holidays for employees, including teachers. Therefore, students are not entitled to a day off on Traditional Day of Vietnam Veterans.
