What are the objectives of lower secondary and upper secondary education in Vietnam?
Based on Article 29 of the Education Law 2019, the objectives of lower secondary and upper secondary education are as follows:
- Lower secondary education aims to consolidate and develop the results of primary education; ensure that students have foundational general education, and acquire the minimum necessary technical knowledge and vocational guidance to either continue studying in high school or follow vocational education programs.
- Upper secondary education aims to equip citizens with knowledge; ensure that students consolidate, develop the results of secondary education, complete general education, and acquire common technical and vocational knowledge; provide the conditions to develop individual capabilities for choosing their development direction, further study in higher education, vocational education, or participate in labor, and contribute to building and defending the nation.
What are the responsibilities of lower secondary and upper secondary teachers in Vietnam?
Based on Article 27 of the Regulations for Lower Secondary Schools, Upper Secondary Schools, and Multi-level Schools issued with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, the responsibilities of lower secondary and upper secondary teachers are as follows:
- Perform tasks in organizing teaching and educational activities according to the school's educational plan and the specialized department's educational plan; manage students in educational activities organized by the school; participate in specialized activities; be responsible for the quality and effectiveness of education.
- Cultivate ethics, uphold a sense of responsibility, maintain the dignity and honor of the teaching profession; model exemplary behavior for students; love, treat fairly, and respect students' personalities; protect the legitimate rights and interests of students; unite and assist colleagues.
- Study and train to improve health, political awareness, professional qualifications, and skills, and innovate teaching and educational methods.
- Participate in professional and skill training and development courses.
- Participate in the local secondary education universalization program.
- Fulfill civic duties, legal and educational sector regulations, and the decisions of the principal; carry out the duties assigned by the principal and be subject to assessment and evaluation by the principal and educational management levels.
- Coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Vietnam Youth Union, students' families, and related social organizations to organize educational activities.
- Execute other duties as prescribed by law.
