How Many Days Off Do Students in Vietnam Have for National Day in 2024?

According to Clause 3, Article 2 of Decision 2045/ND-BGDDT in 2024, holidays and Tet breaks for students are implemented according to the provisions of the Labor Code 2019 and annual guiding documents.

Furthermore, as referenced in Notice 5015/TB-LDTBXH in 2023, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs announces that administrative agencies, non-business units, political organizations, socio-political organizations, enterprises, and other employers will observe the National Day holiday in 2024 as follows:

[1] Officials and public employees and workers of administrative agencies, non-business units, political organizations, socio-political organizations (hereafter referred to as officials and public employees) will have a National Day holiday in 2024 from Saturday, August 31, 2024, to Tuesday, September 3, 2024. This break includes 2 National Day holidays and 2 weekends.

[2] Agencies and units implementing the National Day holiday schedule for 2024 should note: arrange and organize work schedules to continuously handle work, ensuring good service for the organization and the public.

[3] Agencies and units that do not follow a fixed weekend off schedule should arrange holidays based on their specific programs and plans.

Students will have major holidays off according to their school schedule and teachers (public school teachers are public employees), thus when schools and teachers are off, students will also be off according to the regulations.

Thus, students will have 4 consecutive days off during the National Day Holiday on September 2, 2024.

*Note: For agencies, units, schools, etc., that do not have a fixed weekend off schedule, they will base on their specific program and plan to arrange holidays appropriately, in compliance with the law and make-up class schedules will be implemented according to specific local regulations.

Will Students in Vietnam Start the 2024-2025 Academic Year Before or After National Day (September 2nd)?

Based on Decision 2045/ND-BGDDT in 2024 about the framework of the academic year 2024-2025 for preschool, general education, and continuing education:

The Ministry of Education and Training issues the school year framework for 2024-2025 for preschool, general education, and continuing education nationwide as follows:

- The earliest start date is 1 week before the opening ceremony. For grade 1, the earliest start date is 2 weeks before the opening ceremony.

- The opening ceremony will be held on September 5, 2024.

- End the first semester before January 18, 2025, complete the program, and end the school year before May 31, 2025.

- Consider the completion of the primary school program and graduate from lower secondary school before June 30, 2025.

- Complete the admission procedures for the first grades before July 31, 2025.

- The high school graduation exam for 2025 is expected to be held on June 26 and June 27, 2025.

Thus, the 2024-2025 academic year will start on September 5, 2024, so students will start school after the National Day holiday (September 2nd).
