Based on Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT in 2024 issuing the framework plan for the 2024-2025 academic year for preschool education, general education, and continuing education, the earliest school opening date is 1 week before the opening ceremony. Specifically, for first grade, the earliest school opening date is 2 weeks before the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony will be held on September 5, 2024.
Thus, the school opening schedule for private schools can start as early as August 28, 2024. Particularly for first grade, the school opening can be earlier.

How often does the school council of a private school in Vietnam hold regular meetings?
Based on the regulations in Clause 5, Article 7 of the Organizational and Operational Regulations for primary schools, lower secondary schools, upper secondary schools, and multi-level schools of the private type issued together with Circular 40/2021/TT-BGDDT:

5. Activities of the School Board
a) The School Board meets regularly at least 03 times a year.
b) A meeting of the School Board is considered valid if at least 3/4 (three-fourths) of the members are present, including the chairman of the School Board.
c) If necessary, upon the request of the principal or more than 1/2 (one-half) of the members of the School Board, the chairman of the School Board convenes an ad hoc meeting to address issues arising in the performance of the school's duties and rights. The School Board may hold meetings in the form of written consultations. The School Board can invite representatives of other components to participate in its meetings when necessary.
d) Resolutions of the School Board are approved and take effect when at least 2/3 (two-thirds) of the attending members agree. The School Board's resolutions are publicly announced throughout the school.
Thus, according to the above regulations, the private school board meets regularly at least 03 times a year.
What are regulations on educational levels and ages in general education in Vietnam?
Based on Article 28 of the Education Law 2019, the educational levels and ages in general education are as follows:
- The educational levels and ages in general education are regulated as follows:
+ Primary education is conducted over 05 academic years, from grade one to the end of grade five. The age for students entering grade one is 06 years old, calculated by year;
+ Lower secondary education is conducted over 04 academic years, from grade six to the end of grade nine. Students entering grade six must have completed the primary education program. The age for students entering grade six is 11 years old, calculated by year;
+ Upper secondary education is conducted over 03 academic years, from grade ten to the end of grade twelve. Students entering grade ten must have a lower secondary school diploma. The age for students entering grade ten is 15 years old, calculated by year.
- The cases where students can skip a grade or study at an older age than the age specified in Clause 1, Article 28 of the Education Law 2019 include:
+ Students who skip a grade due to early intellectual development;
+ Students studying at an older age because of grade repetition, living in areas with extremely difficult socio-economic conditions, being ethnic minorities, being disabled, having physical or intellectual development delays, being orphans without shelter, being from poor households, returning from abroad, or other cases as prescribed by law.
- General education is divided into the basic education stage and the career-oriented education stage. The basic education stage includes primary education and lower secondary education; the career-oriented education stage is upper secondary education. Students in vocational education institutions can learn upper secondary school cultural knowledge.
- The Minister of Education and Training specifies the teaching and learning of Vietnamese for ethnic minority children before entering grade one; the teaching of upper secondary school cultural knowledge in vocational education institutions; and the cases specified in Clause 2, Article 28 of the Education Law 2019.
