Today, I am honored to participate in the “excellent teacher” contest at the District level for the school year ..., with “Some Measures for Moral Education for Primary School Students.”

Esteemed Judges!

Moral education for Primary School students involves instilling in them the benevolence characteristic of the Vietnamese people; love for the homeland, peace, justice, and charity; respect for elders and harmony with peers, solidarity with everyone, etc. Students need to have a sense of duty towards family, friends, community, and the environment. They should respect and adhere to laws, school regulations, and community rules, leading a life of innocence, courage, confidence, and honesty. They should know how to serve themselves, learn, and apply certain skills at home.

In moral education, we must instill in students proper moral habits such as respect for grandparents, parents, teachers, affection towards friends, assisting peers in distress; honesty and bravery in learning and labor; gratitude towards those who have served the country, etc. These habits follow humane ethical standards of humanity, serving as the foundation for developing new moral character. Moral behavior habits are not merely repetitive actions acquired through practice but are actions stimulated by correct moral motivations.

The moral qualities of the younger generation and their behavior are formed through the development of moral habits, sentiments, and knowledge. Thus, moral education for Primary School students provides them with moral symbols and concepts, fosters moral emotions and sentiments, and develops moral skills and habits.

I. School Situation Characteristics:

a) The School:

Under the close guidance of the Department of Education, Department of Education, and the effective assistance of various sectors; enthusiastic parents always create the best conditions for teachers to complete their academic year duties.

b) Teachers:

Mostly teaching staff with over 5 years of experience, 98% are female. All teachers in the school demonstrate unity and mutual support. They come from various training backgrounds, ages, and career stages, bringing diverse local customs, personalities, skills, and preferences. United under the leadership of the Communist Party, they overcome weaknesses, enhance strengths, and collectively shoulder the school's educational responsibilities.

c) Students:

The school has ... students: Grade 1 has ...; Grade 2 has ...; Grade 3 has ...; Grade 4 has ...; Grade 5 has .... Most are children of local laborers, like many other schools, they are a lively and energetic mix of boys and girls with many commendable aspects but also some individual students with behavior issues. A small number of students show poor adherence to rules and discipline. Additionally, some parents are not attentive to their child's education, leaving it solely to the school and teachers. This situation urges the school to innovate teaching and student education methods to comprehensively address current social demands.

II. Implemented Measures:

Moral education solutions and behavior training for students:

The primary school years are crucial for systematically acquiring moral standards, conduct, and ethical behavior rules. Moreover, schools regularly and purposefully monitor the implementation of moral standards. Moral education is inseparable from student character education and can be pursued through various suitable and diverse forms, prominently including:

a) Moral education and behavior training through classroom instruction and other subjects

b) Moral education and behavior training through extracurricular activities

c) Engaging all forces in moral education and behavior training for students

d) Moral education and behavior training anytime, anywhere

Real-world experience shows that moral education is essential and important for the youth, particularly for Primary School students. It is the responsibility of every social organization, every family, and especially the education sector. Schools play a crucial role in shaping students' personalities and moral qualities.

What are the objectives of the excellent teacher contest in Vietnam?

According to Clause 1, Article 2 of the Regulation on excellent teacher contests at preschool educational institutions; excellent teacher and homeroom teacher contests at general education institutions issued with Circular 22/2019/TT-BGDDT, the purposes of the excellent teacher contest are as follows:

- Identify, acknowledge, and honor teachers who achieve the titles of excellent teacher and Excellent Homeroom Teacher and expand these exemplary models, encouraging social forces to participate in child education, promoting the educational career development of each locality and the entire sector;

- Motivate teachers to strive, improve themselves to meet innovation requirements, enhance education quality, and develop professionally;

- Contribute to enhancing the effectiveness of professional activities and promote the teaching and learning movements in schools; encouraging and motivating, creating opportunities for teachers to practice, self-study, innovate, share, and convey, and spread experiences in child care, nurturing, and education for preschool teachers; teaching and homeroom work for general education teachers.

What are the regulations on the content of the excellent teacher contest in Vietnam?

According to Clause 1, Article 7 of the Regulation on excellent teacher contests at preschool educational institutions; excellent teacher and homeroom teacher contests at general education institutions issued with Circular 22/2019/TT-BGDDT, the content of the excellent teacher contest is regulated as follows:

- Practicing teaching a class period according to the teaching plan during the Contest. The class period involved is organized for the first time in the classroom with the original student count of that class.

Teachers are not allowed to pre-teach (trial-teach) the contest class period in the school year organizing the contest. Teachers receive notification and have no more than two days to prepare from the trial to the contest time;

- Presenting a measure to enhance the quality of individual teaching practice at the educational institution where the teacher is employed.

The presentation duration must not exceed 30 minutes, including the time for the Judges to discuss. The measure must be confirmed to have been effectively applied by the educational institution's leadership and first-time submitted for the excellent teacher contest at a general educational institution, and not previously used for individual achievement awards.
