When do the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 - 2025 School Year take place in Vietnam?
Based on Article 1 of Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT 2024 on the Time Plan Framework for the 2024-2025 School Year for preschool education, general education, and continuing education. The provisions are as follows:
Promulgate the time plan framework for the 2024 - 2025 school year for preschool education, general education, and continuing education nationwide as follows:
- The earliest back-to-school date is one week before the opening ceremony. For first-grade students, the earliest back-to-school date is two weeks before the opening ceremony.
2. Organize the opening ceremony on September 5, 2024.
- End of semester I by January 18, 2025, complete the program, and end the school year by May 31, 2025.
- Assess completion of the primary school program and recognize graduation from lower secondary school by June 30, 2025.
- Complete enrollment for entry-level classes by July 31, 2025.
- The national high school graduation exam in 2025 is expected to take place on June 26 and June 27, 2025.
- Other national exams are conducted according to the regulations and guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Thus, the opening ceremony for the new school year 2024 - 2025 will be on September 5, 2024.
What are the Duties and Rights of primary school Students in Vietnam?
* Regarding Duties:
Based on Article 34 of the primary school Charter issued with Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDDT, the duties of primary school students are as follows:
- Study and train according to the educational plan and school regulations; have a conscious effort to self-study and self-train to comprehensively develop qualities and competencies according to the objectives of the primary school education program.
- Fully and effectively perform study tasks; know how to self-study under the guidance of teachers; actively participate in experiential activities, apply learned knowledge to practical life; exercise and maintain personal hygiene.
- Be dutiful to parents and grandparents; respect and be polite to teachers and elders; unite, love, and help friends, the younger, the elderly, the disabled, and those in difficult circumstances.
- Comply with school regulations, protect school and public property; obey traffic safety rules; maintain hygiene and protect the environment.
- Contribute to activities building, protecting, and promoting traditions of the school and local community.
* Regarding Rights:
Based on Article 35 of the primary school Charter issued with Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDDT, the rights of primary school students are as follows:
(1). The right to study
- Be educated, study to develop comprehensively, and fully realize personal potential; study at a convenient school and class implementing the elementary education program in the residential area.
- Students may choose a school or transfer to another school outside the residential area if the other school has the capacity to accept them.
- Students of primary school age returning from abroad, children of foreigners studying or working in Vietnam, children in difficult circumstances who have not attended school, can transfer to an primary school as desired and be assessed by the principal to be placed in an appropriate class.
- Disabled students can study at a mainstream school; be ensured of conditions for study and training; study and be assessed according to their individual education plan.
- Students can shorten the program duration, study at an age higher than the prescribed age, extend the duration, or repeat a class.
- Students with exceptional physical health and early intellectual development can be accelerated within the grade level. The process for considering each specific case is as follows:
Parents or guardians of pupils submit a request to the school.
The principal forms a council to survey and advise, including the principal or vice-principal and the Parent Representative Board of the school; the current class teacher, the teacher of the upper class, a medical staff member, and the Head of the Youth Union.
Based on the survey results of the advisory council, the principal completes the dossier and reports to the Head of the Education and Training Department for consideration and decision.
- Students with limited study achievements, despite being guided directly by teachers, parents or guardians, but still have not completed, based on the level of underachievement of study and training tasks, the teacher reports to the principal for consideration of class promotion or repetition, and together with the family decide on appropriate educational measures.
(2). Be protected, cared for, respected, and treated equally and democratically; ensured legitimate rights and interests; provided with full information on their learning and training process; ensured conditions for study and training regarding time, facilities, hygiene, and safety.
(3). Participate in activities to promote personal abilities; express opinions and personal wishes.
(4). Receive scholarships and social policies according to regulations.
(5). Enjoy other rights as prescribed by law.
