Recently, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army directed the Army Youth Committee to host the contest "Learn about the 50th anniversary of the Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975-April 30, 2025) to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day.
The regulations of the contest "Learn about the 50th anniversary of the Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975-April 30, 2025) are as follows:
1. Name and Theme of the Contest
- Name: contest "Learn about the 50th anniversary of the Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975-April 30, 2025).
- Theme: "50 Years of Continuing the Epic of Total Victory."
2. Participants: Officers, members, and youth in the Army (participation from allied units is encouraged). Each author or group of authors may submit multiple entries.
3. Format: Written contest.
4. Content of the Contest: The authors (groups of authors) must fully and correctly answer the following 10 questions:
Question 1: Under what circumstances was the Central Office for South Vietnam established and what was its role in the resistance war against America to save the nation?
Question 2: President Ho Chi Minh wrote "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom." Please explain the circumstances and significance of this call to determine the leadership line in the resistance war against America.
Question 3: Please describe the circumstances of President Ho Chi Minh's statement "My beloved South is always in my heart" and the role of the great North rear during the resistance war against America.
Question 4: Please outline the typical victories of our army and people that helped defeat the neocolonial war of American imperialists and their puppets (1954-1975).
Question 5: What is the significance of the Paris Agreement in the victory of the resistance war against America?
Question 6: How many Corps (equivalent to Corps) participated in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign? What were these Corps and what were the outstanding achievements of each?
Question 7: Under what circumstances was General Vo Nguyen Giap's historic order "Rapid and faster, bold and bolder" given? What is the historical value of this manifesto for the great victory in the Spring of 1975?
Question 8: Please present your understanding of the historical Ho Chi Minh Campaign and the military art encapsulated in the national defense and construction career of our ancestors?
Question 9: During the great victory in the Spring of 1975, there was an outstanding achievement affirming the sacred sovereignty of the nation's islands - what was this achievement? What is the responsibility of the Army youth and the young generation in the protection of the sovereignty of the nation's islands today?
Question 10: Please convey your thoughts on the historical victory on April 30, 1975 - the Liberation of the South, national reunification, and the personal responsibility in the new era, the era of the nation's rise, determined to "build a Vietnam that is increasingly rich, strong, civilized, and heroic" (not exceeding 5,000 words).
5. Regulations on Contest Entries
- Entries must fully and correctly answer all 10 questions announced by the Organizing Committee at the launch of the Contest.
- Each author (group) may submit multiple entries, with the group not exceeding 05 people.
- Entries must use Vietnamese, either handwritten or typed; joint submissions with allied units are encouraged, with meticulous, profound content, creative format, scientific presentation, use of digital technology, reasonable incorporation of images and documentation, relevant to the position, responsibility of the individual, and practical agency, unit, locality context.
- Entries must not have been published in newspapers, magazines, and mass media; similarity rate with already published works must not exceed 20%.
- Entries must not be copied from others in any form; if content, images, or illustrative documentation are quoted, they must be clearly cited. Innovations, models, and exemplary cases must be real people, real activities, with specific addresses, not fictional.
- On the cover of the entry, clearly state: “Entry for the contest "Learn about the 50th anniversary of the Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975-April 30, 2025)”; author (group of authors) information, including: Name; age, gender, ethnicity; rank (if a serviceman); position (government, organizations); name of agency, unit, location; contact phone number.
- Contestants must be responsible for the accuracy of the information provided to the Organizing Committee. The Organizing Committee is not legally responsible for any issues related to the rights of elements used in the contest entry. Entries that violate copyright will be disqualified from the Contest or have their prizes revoked (if discovered after awarding).
- The Organizing Committee will provide necessary information and documentation for contestants to research and refer to in People's Army Newspaper, Army Radio Television Center, and Central Committee of the Communist Youth Union media system from January 2025.
6. Regulations on Submission and Reception of Contest Entries
- Contestants submit entries from the grassroots level upwards; high-quality entries will be selected for higher levels at the Central Military Commission - Ministry of Defense subsidiaries.
- The Organizing Committee will only accept entries submitted by the political offices of the Central Military Commission - Ministry of Defense’s departments and units.
- National-level contest submission includes:
+ Official Dispatch regarding participation in the national-level Contest.
+ List of contest entries (noted from highest to lowest results in the organization level).
+ Contest entries.
- Submission period for national-level contest entries is from March 1 to March 15, 2025 (according to the postmark or date of direct handover).

What are the objectives of national defense and security education at universities in Vietnam?
According to the regulations in Section 1 of the national defense and security education curriculum in pedagogical intermediate schools, colleges, and higher education institutions issued together with Circular 05/2020/TT-BGDDT, the objectives of national defense and security education at universities in Vietnam are as follows:
- National defense and security education for university students is a compulsory subject.
- Students have an initial understanding of the national defense policy, people's security; on the tradition of resisting foreign invaders of the nation, the people's armed forces, and the military art of Vietnam; possess necessary basic knowledge on civil defense and military skills; ready to perform military service, police duty in defense of the Fatherland.
- Students have basic knowledge of the Communist Party's viewpoints, State policies, and laws on national defense and security; construction of national defense, people's security, national defense associated with people's security, building of the people's armed forces; supplement knowledge on civil defense and military skills; ready to perform military service, police duty in defense of the Fatherland.
How many units of study does the national defense and security education curriculum at universities include?
According to Subsection 1 Section 4 of the national defense and security education curriculum in pedagogical high schools, colleges, and universities issued together with Circular 05/2020/TT-BGDDT, national defense and security education for university students consists of 4 units of study:
- Unit of study 1: National defense and security policy of the Communist Party of Vietnam;
- Unit of study 2: National defense and security work;
- Unit of study 3: General military affairs.
- Unit of study 4: Infantry combat techniques and tactics.
