Essay on retelling the short story "Làng" via Mr. Hai's statement

I am Mr. Hai, a resident of Cho Dau village. Recently, I've been reminiscing about the story of my village - the village where I was born and raised. That village, called Cho Dau, lies along a small river, with golden ripe rice fields in harvest time, and a picturesque spring season. However, the story I wish to tell today isn’t about those peaceful days, but about the turbulent times my village went through.

That day, as I was sitting with my wife at home, someone rushed in shouting: "Our village has bad news, Mr. Hai! The enemy has arrived, and they are occupying everywhere." Upon hearing this, I was shaking, my mind was in turmoil, unsure of what to do. I have such deep love for this village, for every house, every rice stalk, and every winding path, yet now, with the enemy's arrival, I felt indescribable fear.

But then, I remembered the elders' teachings, that we must uphold our village and defend our homeland. No matter how difficult it may be, even if sacrifice is required, I cannot flee. Especially after hearing that our government and villagers had prepared to confront the enemy. People like me, despite being old and feeble, still had to step up to protect the village.

Cho Dau village, though small, has been home to many generations. Elderly people like me, even if we can’t wield a weapon, can still contribute our labor. I recall being overwhelmed with emotion when I heard the news. The entire village gathered to discuss and prepare everything, everyone determined not to give up.

When the enemy neared, I saw the villagers, from young to old, all steadfastly defending our home. The young men joined the resistance, while we, the elders and women, supported by providing care and food supplies for the soldiers. My village, despite not being strong in numbers, held an indomitable spirit.

One afternoon, as I stood in the field looking toward the village, I saw a familiar figure from afar, it was the villagers returning after a major battle. Despite their wounds, everyone was smiling as we had triumphed. And so, despite moments of peril, my village stood resilient and repelled the enemy.

Retelling the story of the village isn't to boast about myself but to help future generations understand that no matter how challenging, the village, our homeland, remains dear, and is a place we all must cherish. And I, with everything I have, will always remember my beloved Cho Dau village, no matter where I go or what I do, that place remains my homeland in my heart.

In Vietnam, what educational level does 9th grade belong to?

Under the regulations in Clause 1, Article 28 of the Education Law 2019, the provisions are as follows:

Educational levels and entry ages

1. Educational levels and age groups of general education are regulated as follows:

a) Primary education lasts for 05 school years, from the first to the fifth grade. The entry age for the first grade is 06;

b) Lower secondary education lasts for 04 school years, from the sixth to the ninth grade. Students must complete the primary educational program before entering the sixth grade. The entry age for the sixth grade is 11;

c) Upper secondary education lasts for 03 school years, from the tenth to the twelfth grade. Students must complete the lower secondary educational program before entering the tenth grade. The entry age for the tenth grade is 15;

Under the above regulation, lower secondary education lasts for 04 school years, from the sixth to the ninth grade.

Thus, grade 9 falls under the lower secondary education level. 9th-grade students are lower secondary school students.

What is the form of certification of completion of the lower secondary program for 9th-grade students in Vietnam?

According to Article 34 of the Education Law 2019, regulations on certification for completion of primary education and issuance of lower secondary diploma and upper secondary diplomas are as follows:

Certification for completion of primary education and issuance of lower secondary diploma and upper secondary diploma

1. Students who complete the primary education program and meet the requirements set by the Minister of Education and Training will be certified in their official academic records by a primary school principal that they have completed primary education.

2. Students who complete the lower secondary education program and meet the requirements set by the Minister of Education and Training will be issued with diplomas of lower secondary education by the head of an educational specialized agency under the management of a provincial People’s Committee.

Those who pass the examination are issued with diplomas of upper secondary education by the head of an educational specialized agency under the management of a provincial People’s Committee.

Students who complete upper secondary education and meet the requirements set by the Minister of Education and Training will be eligible to take the examination. Those who do not take the examination or fail the examination are issued with certificates by the school principal that they have completed general education.

Certificate for completion of general education is used to register for the examination for the upper secondary diploma per learners' wish or per the requirements to continue studying in vocational education and is used in specific cases as prescribed by law.

4. Students with lower secondary diplomas and studying a vocational secondary program in institutions of vocational education, after completing the program, are eligible to take the examination certifying the upper secondary education knowledge as prescribed by the Minister of Education and Training. Those who pass the examination are issued with certificates by the head of an educational institution teaching upper secondary cultural knowledge that they have achieved sufficient upper secondary education knowledge.

Certificate for achieving sufficient upper secondary education knowledge is used to continue studying a higher qualification of vocational education and is used in specific cases as prescribed by law.

Students who complete the lower secondary education program and meet the requirements set by the Minister of Education and Training will be issued diplomas of lower secondary education by the head of an educational specialized agency under the management of a provincial People’s Committee.

Thus, the issuance of a lower secondary diploma is a form of recognition when 9th-grade students confirm their completion of the program.
