(a) The Ho Chi Minh Trail (or Truong Son Road) was a strategic military transport route from North to South Vietnam, passing through Laos and Cambodia, to support the Vietnam People's Army during the Vietnam War (1959–1975). This network included trails, roads, truck paths, and water transport with a total length of 16,000 km. Established on May 19, 1959, Unit 559 with 440 youths constructed the route. Initially, marching from the North to Saigon took 6 months, despite bombings from American aircraft. The route is considered a "great military engineering feat" and is also referred to as a “Blood Road” due to the tremendous sacrifices on this path.
(b) Quang Tri Ancient Citadel - the fortress located next to the Thach Han River, was built in 1809 and completed in 1837. It was not only the political, economic, and cultural center of Quang Tri province but also held significant roles in the history of the fight for national independence and protection. In the summer of 1972 (from June 28 to September 16), the 81-day and night defense battle at Quang Tri Ancient Citadel occurred—a heroic event etched into history as an immortal epic of the Vietnamese struggle against foreign invaders.
(c) From January 20, 1968, after 170 fierce days and nights, our troops defeated 17,000 enemy troops, destroyed much modern equipment, and liberated Huong Hoa district on July 9, 1968. The defeat at Khe Sanh shattered the US' defense strategy, causing demoralization in both the military and political circles of the US. The victory at Khe Sanh reflected the brilliant leadership of the Communist Party, the heroic spirit of our army and people, and superb military strategy. This pivotal victory contributed to the success of the Tet Offensive 1968, laying the ground for subsequent victories and the complete liberation of the South in 1975.
(d) The 1960 Uprising was a glorious victory, a major historical event, a shining milestone in the struggle against America to save the nation by the Communist Party and People of Ben Tre; it was a triumph of patriotic, resilient spirits, courageous builds, faith, creativity, a victory of great solidarity, Party will - people's heart, a continuous attack idea, advancing attack, overcoming difficulties, seizing opportunities to achieve victory by the Communist Party and People of Ben Tre.
(e) The Spring Offensive 1975 took place from March to April 30, 1975, consisting of three major campaigns: Central Highlands, Hue - Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh. Beginning with a victory at Buon Ma Thuot, our troops quickly liberated the Central Highlands and Central regions. On April 30, 1975, the Ho Chi Minh campaign succeeded in liberating Saigon, ending the war and unifying the country.
