On August 29, 2024, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training issued Announcement No. 2988/TB-SGDDT in 2024 on the structure and format of the exam papers for the entrance exam to Grade 10 of high schools under the 2018 General Education Program.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has announced the structure and sample exam papers for subjects in the entrance exam to Grade 10 of high schools in Hanoi.
The seven subjects that have sample exam papers are Literature, Mathematics, English, Natural Sciences, History and Geography, Civic Education, and Informatics.

Thus, the exam duration for the Civic Education subject for Grade 10 in Hanoi in 2025 is 60 minutes for 34 multiple-choice questions divided into two parts (Part I and Part II).
The method for calculating multiple-choice scores is as follows:
- Multiple-choice questions with multiple options (Part I): Each correct answer gives 0.25 points.
- True/False multiple-choice questions (Part II): The maximum score for one question is 1.0 point, broken down as follows:
+ Selecting exactly one correct idea in one question grants 0.1 points;
+ Selecting exactly two correct ideas in one question grants 0.25 points;
+ Selecting exactly three correct ideas in one question grants 0.5 points;
+ Selecting exactly four correct ideas in one question grants 1.0 points.
- The total maximum score for the exam: 10 points.

What is the age of grade 10 students in Vietnam?
According to Article 33 of the Regulations on Secondary Schools, High Schools, and Multi-level Schools issued with Circular No. 32/2020/TT-BGDDT:
Age of Secondary School Students
- The age of students entering Grade 6 is 11 years old. The age of students entering Grade 10 is 15 years old. For students who advanced a grade in the previous educational level or students entering an educational level at an older age than regulated, the age of entering Grade 6 and Grade 10 will be adjusted based on the age of graduation from the previous educational level.
- Ethnic minority students, students with disabilities, students from particularly difficult circumstances, and repatriated overseas students can enter an educational level at an age up to 3 years older than the regulated age.
- Students are not allowed to repeat a class more than 3 times in one educational level.
- Students with good physical health and advanced intellectual development may enter school earlier than the regulated age or skip a grade within an educational level. The consideration for each specific case is carried out as follows:
a) Parents or guardians submit a request to the school.
b) The principal establishes an assessment and advisory council with the following core members: a representative of the school's leadership, the student’s parents' association, and the teaching staff of the student's current class.
c) Based on the council's assessment and advice, the principal makes a decision.
- Students within the regulated age range returning from abroad, and children of foreigners working in Vietnam, may study at secondaryschools where they reside or at other secondary schools if feasible. The consideration for each specific case is carried out as follows:
a) Parents or guardians submit a request to the school.
b) The principal organizes an assessment of the student's proficiency and assigns them to the appropriate class.
Therefore, the age of students entering Grade 10 is 15 years. For students who advanced a grade in the previous educational level or students entering an educational level at an older age, the age of entering Grade 10 will be adjusted based on the age of graduation from the previous educational level. For ethnic minority students, students with disabilities, students from particularly difficult circumstances, and repatriated overseas students, they can enter Grade 10 at an age up to 3 years older than the regulated age.
What is the deadline for completion of grade 10 admission in Vietnam?
According to Article 1 of Decision No. 2045/QD-BGDDT in 2024, on the Framework of the School Year Plan for 2024-2025 for preschool education, general education, and continuing education:

- School start date is at least one week before the opening ceremony. For Grade 1, the school start date is at least two weeks before the opening ceremony.
- The opening ceremony is held on September 5, 2024.
- The end of the first semester is before January 18, 2025; completing the program and ending the school year before May 31, 2025.
- Review and recognize primary school completion and graduation from secondary school before June 30, 2025.
5. Complete the admission process for the first grades before July 31, 2025.
- The national high school graduation exam is expected to be held on June 26 and June 27, 2025.
- Other national exams are held according to the regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Therefore, as per the plan, educational institutions will complete the admission process to Grade 10 before July 31, 2025.
