When must candidates in Vietnam confirm their enrollment after the admission standards are announced?

Based on Subsection 8, Section I of Official Dispatch 1957/BGDDT-GDDH 2024:

For candidates

8. Enrollment confirmation:

- For candidates who have been selected for direct admission, from July 22, 2024, to 5:00 PM on July 31, 2024, they may confirm their enrollment on the System (those who have confirmed their enrollment will not be allowed to continue registering for admission, except in cases where the head of the educational institution permits not enrolling). In the case of undecided enrollment, candidates can continue to register for admission on the System or the national public service portal like other candidates for educational institution to consider. If selected, candidates will confirm their enrollment according to the general schedule;

- No later than 5:00 PM on August 27, 2024, all selected candidates must complete the first round of online enrollment confirmation on the System.

9. From August 28, 2024, to December 2024, candidates who wish to apply for additional rounds of educational institution will follow the admission plan posted on the educational institution’s admission information website (if educational institution considers additional admissions). Candidates who have been selected and have confirmed enrollment are not eligible for additional admissions, except in cases where the head of the educational institution permits not enrolling.

10. Candidates submit documents for admission considerations at educational institution (according to the instructions on time and place of educational institution). Candidates applying for courses with aptitude exams, using aptitude test scores from other educational institutions for consideration, must contact the educational institution for registration, attend the test, or submit the aptitude test scores.

Thus, after the admission standards are announced, the selected candidates must confirm their first round of online enrollment on the system no later than 5:00 PM on August 27, 2024.

What are regulations on handling late enrollment confirmations in Vietnam?

In Article 3, Article 21 of the Regulation on university admissions and preschool education issued with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT:

Notification of Results and Enrollment Confirmation

1. The training institution sends admission notices to selected candidates, clearly stating the necessary procedures for candidates upon enrollment and the method of enrollment.

2. Candidates confirm enrollment online on the system before enrolling at the training institution.

3. For candidates who do not confirm enrollment within the stipulated time:

a) If without a valid reason, the candidate is considered to have refused enrollment, and the training institution has the right not to accept them;

b) If due to illness or accident, with a confirmation from a district-level or higher hospital, or due to natural disasters with confirmation from the district-level People's Committee or higher, the training institution will consider admitting the candidate or deferring the enrollment to a later time;

c) If due to mistakes or errors made by admission personnel or the candidate themselves, the training institution will actively cooperate with relevant individuals or organizations to review the evidence and decide on admitting the candidate or deferring the enrollment to a later time.

4. Candidates who have confirmed enrollment at one training institution are not allowed to participate in admissions at another institution or in additional admission rounds, except when permitted by the training institution.

Thus, if a candidate confirms their enrollment late without a valid reason, it is considered as a refusal of enrollment, and the training institution has the right not to accept the candidate.

Candidates who confirm their enrollment late with a valid reason will be handled as follows:

- If due to illness or accident, with a confirmation from a district-level or higher hospital, or due to natural disasters with confirmation from the district-level People's Committee or higher, the training institution will consider admitting the candidate or deferring the enrollment to a later time;

- If due to mistakes or errors made by admission personnel or the candidate themselves, the training institution will actively cooperate with relevant individuals or organizations to review the evidence and decide on admitting the candidate or deferring the enrollment to a later time.
