What are the guidelines regarding wearing prescription glasses by students in Vietnam?
For students prescribed glasses by a doctor to correct vision, using glasses correctly is extremely important. This not only helps improve vision but also prevents eye problems that may become more severe in the future. Therefore, students should adhere to the following basic principles:
(1) Wear Glasses for the Prescribed Time
- Students need to wear glasses regularly, whether studying, reading, watching TV, or engaging in other activities.
- Regularly wearing glasses will help the eye's vision function return to near-normal levels. Failure to wear glasses regularly may lead to quick increases in prescription strength and a high risk of amblyopia.
(2) Wear Properly and in the Correct Position
- Ensure glasses are always positioned correctly, with frames fitting snugly and lenses aligned with the line of sight.
- Do not let glasses slip or droop down the nose, as this will reduce the effectiveness of vision correction.
(3) Keep Glasses Clean and Carefully Maintain Them
- Clean glasses with a specialized cloth or glasses cleaning solution to ensure lenses are clear and not blurred.
- Avoid dropping glasses, impacts, or placing them in high-temperature areas (such as near stoves, in cars under the sun).
(4) Attend Follow-Up Exams on Schedule
- A student's eyes may change over time, so periodic checks are necessary to ensure the prescription remains suitable.
- If the glasses become blurry, eyes hurt, or headaches occur when wearing them, immediately inform parents to arrange a follow-up exam.
(5) Proper Sitting Posture and Distance
- Ensure sufficient lighting while studying.
- Maintain a distance from the eyes to books/notebooks of approximately 30-40 cm.
- Sit with a straight back, avoid leaning too closely to the desk, or lying down to read.
- Wearing glasses correctly not only improves vision but also helps prevent worsening eye conditions. If there is any discomfort while wearing glasses, students should immediately inform parents and the doctor.
Thus, if students wear prescription glasses, they need to wear them regularly.
