Under the Rules of the Contest "Youth Learning and Following the Ideology, Morality, and Style of Ho Chi Minh" for the  2024 - 2025 academic year issued with Decision 3891/QD-BGDDT in 2025...Download, Group A of the Contest is for secondary school students (including students from lower secondary schools, upper secondary schools, multi-level schools, boarding ethnic secondary schools, semi-boarding ethnic secondary schools, schools with semi-boarding students, and learners from continuing education centers).

The Contest has just undergone the challenging Qualifying Round, after which the Semi-final Round will commence from 09:00 on February 21, 2025 to 21:00 on February 23, 2025.

On January 22, 2025, the Contest's organizing committee announced the results for the Semi-final Round of Group A in the Contest 'Youth Learning and Following Ho Chi Minh's Ideology, Morality, and Style.'

What are the requirements satisfied by students in the integration of national defense and security education in Vietnam?

Under Article 5 of Circular 08/2024/TT-BGDDT, the requirements satisfied by students in the integration of national defense and security education in Vietnam are:

(1) General requirements

- Required traits

Foster and develop in students traits such as patriotism, compassion, honesty, responsibility, diligence; awareness, and responsibility as citizens in building and protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

- Required capabilities

Cultivate and develop in students the capabilities of autonomy, self-directed learning; communication, and cooperation; creatively solving problems through specific competencies: basic understanding of national defense and security; applying learned knowledge and skills to life.

(2) Specific requirements

- Primary students

+ Develop awareness of love for the homeland and the country; gratitude towards those who have contributed to the revolution, the nation; love, care, and attention for family members; respect teachers, be fond of and assist friends.

+ Discipline, cultivate solidarity, ethics, and serious demeanor in learning, labor, and daily activities.

+ Consciously maintain good habits, hygiene, physical training; actively follow school rules and legal regulations.

- Lower secondary students

+ Know the tradition of fighting invaders through historical periods of establishing the country; the tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, the Vietnam People's Public Security, and Militia and Self-Defense Forces; territorial sovereignty, maritime, island, and national border security; basic content in the people's movement to protect national security.

+ Form awareness about national defense and security at a basic level, students' responsibilities towards the mission to protect the Fatherland and maintain social order and safety.

+ Have pride, national self-esteem, love for the Fatherland, love for fellow citizens, a sense of discipline, solidarity, and voluntarily adhere to the law.

What are the responsibilities of the Departments of Education and Training in the integration of national defense and security education in Vietnam?

Under Article 25 of Circular 08/2024/TT-BGDDT on the responsibilities of the Departments of Education and Training, the Divisions of Education and Training, primary schools, and lower secondary schools in the integration of national defense and security education:

(1) Responsibilities of the Department of Education and Training

- Advise the Chairperson of the People's Committee of the province or centrally governed city on ensuring funding and directing the education sector to effectively integrate national defense and security education in primary and lower secondary schools.

- Direct and guide the Divisions of Education and Training, primary and lower secondary schools to implement the integration of national defense and security education content according to the regulations of this Circular.

- Organize training and capacity building for teachers on the content, methods, and forms of integrating national defense and security education.

- Monitor and evaluate the implementation of integrated national defense and security education content in primary and lower secondary schools.

- Ensure that primary and lower secondary schools fully comply with the regulations and standards regarding the content and methods of integrating national defense and security education into the subjects and educational activities.

- Summarize and report the implementation of this Circular; commend and propose competent authorities commend collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements and handle or propose disciplinary actions against collectives and individuals in violation according to the law.

(2) Responsibilities of the Division of Education and Training

- Direct primary and lower secondary schools to develop plans and implement integrated national defense and security education according to the guidance of the Department of Education and Training, suitable with the practical conditions of each locality and school; guide primary and lower secondary schools to organize students' participation in activities of legal dissemination, popularization, national defense, and security education organized by the locality.

- Inspect and supervise the implementation of integrated national defense and security education content in primary and lower secondary schools.

- Summarize and report the implementation of this Circular; commend and propose competent authorities commend collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the integration of national defense and security education content; propose disciplinary actions against collectives and individuals in violation according to the law.

(3) Responsibilities of primary and lower secondary schools

- Develop and implement plans for teaching integrated national defense and security education as directed and guided by the Departments of Education and Training and Divisions of Education and Training, ensuring strictness and adaptability to the specific conditions of each locality and school.

- Organize the dissemination and popularization of legal education; knowledge and skills on national defense and security for staff, teachers, and students.

- Maximize the existing facilities, plan investments, and enhance facilities and teaching equipment according to regulations, necessary models, and supplies provided by competent authorities, teaching materials, and resources related to national defense and security education content, knowledge, and skills.

- Ensure absolute safety during teaching, learning, and activities integrating national defense and security education content.

- Summarize, report the implementation of this Circular; commend and propose competent authorities commend collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the integration of national defense and security content; handle and propose disciplinary actions against collectives and individuals in violation according to the law.
