What are the regulations on assessment of academic outcomes in National Defense and Security Education for upper secondary school students in Vietnam?
Under Section 7 of the National Defense and Security Education Curricula at the Upper Secondary Level issued along with Circular 46/2020/TT-BGDDT, the assessment of academic outcomes in National Defense and Security Education for upper secondary school students in Vietnam is stipulated as follows:
- Regular assessment includes formal assessments (through activities of knowledge grasping in class, practice exercises, demonstrations, seminars...) and informal assessments (including classroom observations, old lesson reviews, dialogues, student self-assessment,...) aimed at collecting information about the process of developing each student's qualities and abilities.
- Periodic assessment is conducted at the end of each semester and school year through objective multiple-choice and essay or practical tests; the assessment content emphasizes understanding and practical skills; and cooperates with regular assessments to provide information for classifying students and adjusting educational content and methods.
Additionally, the assessment of academic outcomes in National Defense and Security Education is conducted according to the Ministry of Education and Training’s regulations on assessing and grading lower and upper secondary school students.
What is the duration of the National Defense and Security Education curricula at the upper secondary level in Vietnam?
Based on Section 8 of the National Defense and Security Education Curricula at the Upper Secondary Level issued along with Circular 46/2020/TT-BGDDT, the duration of the National Defense and Security Education curricula at the upper secondary level in Vietnam is regulated as follows:
(1) Duration by grade
The total duration for the entire subject is 105 lessons, including Grade 10: 35 lessons, Grade 11: 35 lessons, and Grade 12: 35 lessons. Based on the school year plan, educational institutions construct a teaching plan ensuring sufficient duration.
(2) Duration for educational content
The duration of knowledge for each educational content is arranged proactively by textbook authors and teachers based on the required achievements for each class and actual teaching circumstances.
