FEATURES OF THE SUBJECT

History & Geography at the primary level is a compulsory subject, taught in grades 4 and 5. The subject is developed on the inheritance and development from the Nature and Society subject of grades 1, 2, 3 and serves as a foundation for studying History & Geography at the lower secondary education level, while also laying the groundwork for social sciences education in higher education levels. The subject contributes to forming and developing in students the primary qualities and general competencies as defined in the overall curriculum.

The History & Geography curriculum at the primary level includes foundational and essential strands of knowledge and skills about the geography and history of the locality, regions, Vietnam, neighboring countries, and some basic aspects of world geography and history. The content of the History & Geography curriculum is also directly related to many other subjects and educational activities, such as: Ethics, Vietnamese Language, Experiential Activities,...

History & Geography at the primary level is a compulsory subject, taught in grades 4 and 5. - Based on inheriting and promoting the strengths of History & Geography in the current general education program and learning from the experience of advanced countries globally, the History & Geography curriculum selects fundamental and simple knowledge about the nature, population, some economic activities, history, and culture of Vietnam's regions and the world; events and historical figures reflecting major milestones of Vietnam’s nation-building and safeguarding process. The subject's content ensures scientific accuracy while being suitable for the psychological and cognitive characteristics of students.

- The curriculum is designed to gradually expand geographically and socially from the local, regional, and national level to neighboring countries, regions, and the world.

- The curriculum selects contents that are practical for forming and developing students' qualities and competencies through methods of organizing active learning activities such as: exploring historical and geographical issues, practicing and applying learned knowledge to identify and solve real-life problems,...
