(1) Reading comprehension of content
- Recognize certain details and the main content of the text; based on hints, comprehend what the author intends to convey through the text.
- Summarize a simple story.
- Recognize the theme of a text.
(2) Reading comprehension of form
- Recognize the characteristics of characters expressed through appearance, gestures, actions, and dialogue.
- Recognize the sequence of events in a story according to causal relationships.
- Recognize the relationship between characters expressed through the way they address each other.
- Recognize imagery in poetry, dialogue in drama texts.
- Understand the effects of the personification literary device.
(3) Connection, Comparison, Linking
- Express personal feelings and thoughts after reading the text.
- Mention a story, article, or poem liked best and explain why.
- Describe how one would behave if encountering situations similar to those of characters in the work.
(4) Extensive reading
- During one academic year, read at least 35 literary texts (including guided texts read on the Internet) with genres and lengths equivalent to the texts studied.
- Memorize at least 10 passages, poems, or articles learned; each piece should be about 80 words in length.
