According to Section 2 of the primary education mathematics program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT:
The Mathematics program upholds the fundamental principles outlined in the overall program;
It inherits and builds upon the merits of the current and previous programs, selectively embraces the experience of math curriculum development from advanced countries worldwide, approaches achievements in educational science, considering the economic and social conditions of Vietnam.
Additionally, the Mathematics program emphasizes several viewpoints:
- Ensuring simplicity, practicality, modernity
The Mathematics program ensures simplicity, practicality, and modernity reflected in the inclusion of content that must be taught in schools, addressing the desire to understand the world and catering to learners' interests, aligned with contemporary global approaches. The program adheres to the principle of "mathematics for everyone", implying that everyone can learn math, but each individual can approach math in a way that suits their interests and abilities.
The Mathematics program emphasizes applicability, integration with reality or other subjects, and educational activities, particularly subjects aiming to implement STEM education, aligned with modern trends in economics, science, social life, and addressing urgent global issues (such as climate change, sustainable development, financial education, etc.).
This is also reflected through practical and experiential activities in mathematics education in various forms such as: undertaking mathematics projects, especially projects on the application of mathematics in practice, organizing math learning games, math clubs, forums, seminars, math competitions,... creating opportunities for students to apply their knowledge, skills, and experiences creatively in practice.
Thus, programs for grade 5 Mathematics needs to ensure modernity and simplicity.
