Latest guidance on making questions for the 2025 High School Graduation Examination in Vietnam

Based on subsection 1 of Section 1 in Official Dispatch 4697/BGDDT-QLCL in 2024 guiding the implementation of quality management tasks for the academic year 2024-2025 issued by the Ministry of Education and Training:

Exam and Education Quality Assessment Work

1. For the 2025 High School Graduation Exam:

a) Strengthen managerial functions and associate the responsibility for directing and managing the exam organization of the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Education and Training in directing the organization of the Exam at the local level.

b) Develop and seriously and promptly implement the regulations, requirements in the directives, and guidelines on exam organization to all levels of the base; Organize feedback for draft legal documents, Graduation Exam Regulations from 2025, exam organization guidelines, and actively assess the impact at the local level.

c) Continue to train teachers to develop exam questions and contribute exam questions/tests to the Exam Question Library openly to serve the organization of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam.

d) Do a good job in personnel selection for the Exam; strengthen the dissemination of Exam Regulations; improve the quality of professional training for all participants involved in exam organization; particularly focus on professional training for staff performing inspection, supervision, and prevention of high-tech cheating at the local level.

đ) Promote the application of IT in management, direction, and exam organization; actively participate in experimenting with exam organization software to ensure feasibility and effectiveness.

e) Analyze, evaluate, and effectively exploit the database of high school graduation exam results to serve professional management and policy issuance.

What are the subjects for the 2025 high school graduation exam in Vietnam?

Based on Section 5 of the Plan for organizing the Exam and recognizing high school graduation from 2025 issued in accordance with Decision 4068/QD-BGDDT in 2023:

From 2025, students are required to take the Vietnamese Language, Mathematics, and 02 elective subjects from the remaining subjects learned in grade 12 (Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Informatics, Technology).

Are the subjects for the 2025 high school graduation exam the mandatory subjects in grade 12 in Vietnam?

According to Section 4 of the General Education Program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT:

Basic Education Stage

1.1. Primary Level

a) Educational content

Compulsory subjects and educational activities: Vietnamese Language; Mathematics; Ethics; Foreign Language 1 (in grades 3, 4, 5); Nature and Society (in grades 1, 2, 3); History and Geography (in grades 4, 5); Science (in grades 4, 5); Informatics and Technology (in grades 3, 4, 5); Physical Education; Arts (Music, Fine Arts); Experiential Activities.

Elective subjects: Ethnic Minority Languages, Foreign Language 1 (in grades 1, 2).

b) Teaching duration

The two-session school day is implemented, not exceeding 7 periods per day; each period lasts 35 minutes. Educational institutions that do not have the conditions to organize two-session school days follow the educational plan guided by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Elective subjects: Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Technology, Informatics, Music, Fine Arts.

Students choose 4 subjects from the elective subjects.
