Can 6th grade students in Vietnam  file a complaint against the school?

Based on Clause 2, Article 35 of the Charter of Secondary Schools, High Schools, and Schools with Multiple Levels of Education issued together with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, the specific regulations are as follows:

Rights of Students

1. To enjoy equal opportunities for comprehensive education, to be ensured conditions of time, facilities, hygiene, and safety for studying in class and self-study at home, to be provided with information about their study and training, to use facilities and equipment serving educational, cultural, and sports activities of the school as prescribed.

2. To be respected and protected, to be treated equally and democratically, to have the right to complain to the school and educational management levels about decisions related to themselves; to have the right to transfer schools for legitimate reasons according to current regulations; to be allowed to advance in study, skip grades, study at an age higher than the regulated age as per Article 33 of this Charter.

3. To participate in activities to develop talent in subjects, sports, and arts organized by the school if they meet the conditions.

4. To receive scholarships or other allowances as per the regulations for students entitled to social policies, students with difficult life conditions, and exceptionally talented students.

5. To transfer schools if they meet the regulations; the procedure for school transfer follows the regulations of the Minister of Education and Training.

6. To enjoy other rights as prescribed by law.

Rights and Duties of Complainants

(4) Using mobile phones and other devices not for learning purposes and without the teacher's permission during class.

(5) Fighting, disrupting order and security in school and public places.

(6) Using, exchanging cultural products with violent, depraved content; using toys or playing games harmful to their healthy development.

(7) Students must not commit other illegal acts as prescribed by law.

What are the duties of 6th grade students in Vietnam?

The duties of 6th-grade students, according to Article 34 of the Charter of Secondary Schools, High Schools, and Schools with Multiple Levels of Education issued together with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, are specifically regulated:

- Fulfilling study and training tasks according to the school's educational program and plan.

- Respecting parents, school staff, teachers, and elders; being united, helping each other in study and training; complying with the school's charter and regulations; abiding by the laws of the State.

- Exercising, maintaining personal hygiene.

- Participating in collective activities of the school, class, Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization, and Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; assisting the family, engaging in labor and social activities, environmental protection activities, and maintaining traffic order and safety.

- Preserving and protecting school and public property; contributing to building, protecting, and promoting the school's traditions.
