How do universities in Vietnam conduct additional admissions?

Based on Article 22 of the Regulations on university admissions and preschool teacher college admissions issued under Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the regulations on the organization of registration and additional admissions are as follows:

- Based on the enrollment quota and the number of candidates who have confirmed enrollment in specific programs, the admissions committee of the training institution will review and decide on the supplementary admission rounds.

- The training institution announces the plan for supplementary admissions, the method, and application for supplementary admissions; admission conditions for each program by different methods, but not lower than the previous admission conditions.

- Candidates who have not been admitted or have been admitted but have not confirmed enrollment can apply for supplementary admissions according to the institution's plan and guidelines.

- At the end of each admission, the training institution publishes the admission scores (and additional conditions and criteria, if any) on its website for different programs and admission methods; organizes for candidates to check their admission results; sends admission notices and enrollment instructions to admitted candidates.

a) If there is no valid reason, it is deemed that the candidate declines the enrollment, and the training institution has the right not to accept them;

b) If due to illness, accident, with certification from a district-level hospital or higher, or due to natural disasters with certification from the district-level People's Committee or higher, the training institution will consider and decide whether to accept the candidate for immediate study or to reserve their admission results for later study;

c) If due to mistakes or confusion by the admissions staff or the candidate, the training institution shall actively cooperate with the relevant individuals and organizations to review the evidence and decide whether to accept the candidate for immediate study or to reserve their admission results for later study.

Accordingly, for cases where candidates have received admission notices and confirmed enrollment on the system but later experience illness or accidents with certification from the hospital or local People's Committee, the training institution will consider:

- Reserving the admission results until the candidate recovers.- Deciding to accept the candidate for study once they recover.

If there are some unexpected mistakes, the training institution will cooperate with the candidate to verify the case and then decide to accept the candidate for study or to reserve the results for later study.

Therefore, if the candidate falls into one of the above-mentioned force majeure cases, they can postpone their enrollment until their health stabilizes.
