What are the requirements for assessing 4th-grade students in Vietnam?
According to Article 4 of the Regulations on assessing primary school students issued together with Circular 27/2020/TT-BGDDT, the requirements for assessing 4th-grade students include:
- Assess students via level of satisfaction of requirements and specific display of capacities in subjects, academic activities, traits and capabilities of students required by formal primary education program.
- Conduct regular assessment by feedback, periodic assessment in form of scores in combination with comments; combine assessment of teachers, students, students' parents in which teachers’ assessment holds the highest priority.
- Assess progression and do so for the progression of students; emphasize encouragement and motivation of efforts in studying and training of students; assist students in making the best of their capabilities and efforts; guarantee timeliness, fairness and transparency; refrain from comparing one student to another, refrain from pressuring students, teachers or students' parents.
What are the 5 essential traits required for 4th-grade students in Vietnam?
According to the General Education Program issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT (with some content amended by Article 1, Article 2 Circular 13/2022/TT-BGDDT, the 5 essential traits required for 4th-grade students in Vietnam are as follows:
(1) Patriotism
- Love nature and take practical actions to protect nature.
- Love the homeland, and the Fatherland, and respect national symbols.
- Respect and be grateful to laborers and those who have contributed to the homeland, the country; participate in activities to honor and repay those who have contributed to the homeland, the country.
(2) Kindness
- Love everyone:
+ Love, care for, and take care of family members.
+ Value friendships, appreciate teachers; care for and encourage friends.
+ Respect the elderly; help the elderly, the infirm, and people with disabilities; share and help younger siblings.
+ Share with friends in difficult circumstances, those in remote areas, people with disabilities, and communities affected by natural disasters.
- Respect differences between people:
+ Respect the differences of classmates in terms of dress, temperament, and family circumstances.
+ Do not discriminate or cause rifts among friends.
+ Be ready to forgive friends' mistakes.
(3) Diligence
Love learning
- Attend school regularly and punctually.
- Regularly complete learning tasks.
- Be eager to learn and enjoy reading books to broaden knowledge.
- Be aware of applying learned knowledge and skills from school into daily life.
Hardworking
- Regularly participate in family chores suitable for oneself.
- Regularly participate in school and community activities within one's capacity.
(4) Honesty
- Be truthful and straightforward in learning, labor, and daily activities; boldly express personal opinions.
- Always keep promises; bravely admit and correct mistakes and stand up for what is right and good.
- Do not take belongings or money from family, friends, teachers, or others without permission.
- Do not condone dishonest actions in learning and in life.
(5) Responsibility
Responsibility to oneself:
- Be conscious of maintaining hygiene, exercising, and taking care of health.
- Maintain a disciplined routine.
Responsibility to family:
- Be aware of maintaining and preserving personal and family belongings.
- Do not waste food and drinks; be mindful of saving money, electricity, and water at home.
Responsibility to school and society:
- Voluntarily comply with school rules and collective regulations; maintain cleanliness; protect public property.
- Do not cause disorder, argue, or fight.
- Remind friends to obey school rules; remind family members to adhere to public regulations and conventions.
- Be responsible for assigned tasks at school and in class.
- Actively participate in collective activities, social activities suitable for age.
Responsibility to the living environment:
- Be aware of caring for and protecting green plants and beneficial animals.
- Be mindful of maintaining environmental cleanliness, do not litter indiscriminately.
- Do not condone acts that harm nature.
