Under the general education program for History issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, there are general orientations on the teaching method for 12th-grade History, including:
- The History curriculum is developed with a focus on capacity building, so the dominant teaching method is activating the learner's activities.
- Active teaching method shall be applied to focus on organizing for students to perform learning activities related to real-life situations; linking intellectual activities with practical practice;
- Strengthening self-study and teamwork aims to develop essential qualities, common competencies (self-control, self-study, communication and cooperation, problem-solving, and creativity) and historical capacity for students, meeting the goals of the high school education program.
Thus, the primary teaching method for 12th-grade History is activating the learner's activities.
What are the core objectives of the History subject in Vietnam?
According to Section 3 of the general education program for History issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the core objectives of the History subject in Vietnam are as follows:
The History curriculum:
- helps students develop historical competence, a manifestation of scientific competence formed at the secondary education level.
- contributes to teaching national spirit, patriotism, the beautiful traditional values of the nation, the quintessence of human culture, qualities, and competencies of Vietnamese citizens and global citizens that match the developmental trends of the era.
- helps students approach and clearly understand the role, and characteristics of historical science, as well as the connection between history and other scientific fields and professions, providing a basis for students to orient future careers.
