What are regulations on implementation of the Technology subject curriculum in accordance with practical conditions and student characteristics in Vietnam?
Based on Section 8 of the Technology subject in the general education program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the implementation of the Technology subject curriculum in alignment with real conditions and student demographics is stipulated as follows:

(1) Regarding vocational education and career orientation implementation
In the technology education program, vocational education content is presented in lower secondary school and high school classes.
In grades 7 and 8, vocational education is portrayed through the introduction of major occupations related to primary production fields such as agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and industry; in grade 9, students learn basic knowledge about methods of career selection in the fields of engineering, technology, and career experiences.
Apart from compulsory content on vocational education in engineering and technology, students can choose to study one of the modules (35 lessons/module) in various technical and technological fields to meet their needs and interests.
In grades 10, 11, and 12, students get a general overview of technology, different technology fields, and related occupations. They study to adapt to careers related to engineering and technology. The learning content for both Industrial and Agricultural orientations is fundamental, basic, and core, providing students with the confidence and success when choosing engineering and technological jobs after graduating from high school.
(2) On implementing cross-curricular educational content
Along with other subjects and educational activities, the Technology subject integrates and embeds priority content and global issues such as sustainable development, climate change, environmental protection, energy-saving and efficiency, financial education, etc. Also, it integrates interdisciplinary education between Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics to promote STEM education.
(3) On using local technological products
If the technological products mentioned in elementary and early lower secondary school grades are uncommon or unavailable locally, those technological products may be replaced by other close and suitable technological products for local students.

At which grade do students in Vietnam study Technology?
According to Section 3 of the general education program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT:
1. Basic education stage
1.1. Elementary level
a) Educational content
Compulsory subjects and educational activities: Vietnamese; Mathematics; Ethics; Foreign Language 1 (for grades 3, 4, 5); Natural and Social Science (for grades 1, 2, 3); History and Geography (for grades 4, 5); Science (for grades 4, 5); Informatics and Technology (for grades 3, 4, 5); Physical Education; Arts (Music, Fine Arts); Experiential Activities.
Optional subjects: Ethnic Minority Language, Foreign Language 1 (for grades 1, 2).
b) Educational duration
Implementing a two-session school day, each day scheduling no more than 7 lessons; each lesson is 35 minutes. Educational institutions without the conditions to organize a two-session school day will implement the education plan as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training.

a) Educational content
Compulsory subjects and educational activities: Literature; Mathematics; Foreign Language 1; Citizenship Education; History and Geography; Natural Science; Technology; Informatics; Physical Education; Arts (Music, Fine Arts); Experiential, vocational orientation activities; Local education content.
Optional subjects: Ethnic Minority Language, Foreign Language 2.

2. Career-oriented education stage
2.1. Educational content
Compulsory subjects and educational activities: Literature; Mathematics; Foreign Language 1; History; Physical Education; National Defense and Security Education; Experiential, vocational orientation activities; Local education content.
Elective subjects: Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Technology, Informatics, Music, Fine Arts.
Students choose 4 subjects from the elective subjects.

Students from grades 1 to 9 will study Technology as a compulsory subject, while students from grades 10 to 12 can optionally study Technology.
Will Technology be included in the high school graduation exam in 2025?
Based on Section 5 of the Organization Plan for the High School Graduation Exam and Recognition from 2025 issued with Decision 4068/QD-BGDDT in 2023:
Exam subjects:
Candidates must take compulsory exams in Literature, Mathematics, and 02 optional subjects among those studied in grade 12 (Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economics and Law Education, Informatics, Technology).
Candidates will take 4 exams, including 2 optional subjects from the following: Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economics and Law Education, Informatics, Technology.
Thus, High School Graduation Exam candidates in 2025 can choose to take the Technology exam.
Moreover, the High School Graduation Exam will be organized nationwide with a common format, common exam period, and common time as stipulated by the Ministry of Education and Training.
