Based on Clause 7, Article 14 of Circular 07/2023/TT-BLDTBXH:

Salary arrangement for vocational education public employee titles

Public employees ranked in public employee titles specialized in vocational education as stipulated in this Circular are entitled to the corresponding salary scale issued together with Decree No. 204/2004/ND-CP dated December 14, 2004 of the Government of Vietnam on salary policies for officials and public employees, and the armed forces. To be specific:

4. Vocational practical education instructors - Code: V.09.02.04, are entitled to the salary coefficient of public employee category A0 from a salary coefficient of 2.10 to a salary coefficient of 4.89.

5. Senior vocational education teachers - Code: V.09.02.05, are entitled to the salary coefficient of public employee category A3 group 2 (A3.2), from a salary coefficient of 5.75 to a salary coefficient of 7.55.

6. Principal vocational education teachers - Code: V.09.02.06, are entitled to the salary coefficient of public employee category A2 group 1 (A2.1) from a salary coefficient of 4.40 to a salary coefficient of 6.78.

7. Vocational theoretical education teachers - Code: V.09.02.07, are entitled to the salary coefficient of public employee category A1 from a salary coefficient of 2.34 to a salary coefficient of 4.98.

8. Vocational practical education instructors - Code: V.09.02.08, are entitled to the salary coefficient of public employee category A0 from a salary coefficient of 2.10 to a salary coefficient of 4.89.

9. Vocational education teachers - Code: V.09.02.09, are entitled to the salary coefficient of public employee category B from a salary coefficient of 1.86 to a salary coefficient of 4.06.

Thus, vocational theoretical education teachers are entitled to the salary coefficient of public employee category A1 from a salary coefficient of 2.34 to a salary coefficient of 4.98.

Based on Circular 07/2024/TT-BNV, the salary of official public employees is calculated as follows:

Salary = Basic salary x Salary coefficient

At the same time, according to Decree 73/2024/ND-CP when increasing the statutory pay rate to 2,340,000 VND/month, the salary calculation from July 1, 2024, is as follows:

Salary = 2,340,000 VND x Salary coefficient

Thus, when the statutory pay rate increases to 2.34, the salary of vocational theoretical education teachers can range from 5,475,600 VND/month to 11,653,200 VND/month.

Note: The above salary does not include allowances and subsidies.

How many tasks must vocational theoretical education teachers in Vietnam perform?

According to Clause 1, Article 11 of Circular 07/2023/TT-BLDTBXH, vocational theoretical education teachers must perform 05 tasks, including:

- Teaching theory at intermediate level; teaching at elementary level; assessing the learning outcomes and graduation exam results of students;

- Participating in professional and specialized activities within the department, faculty, vocational education institution; performing scientific and technological tasks;

- Participating in compiling textbooks, teaching materials; contributing ideas to build programs, module content, assigned subjects; designing and constructing specialized classrooms; designing, improving, and self-making vocational education tools and equipment;

- Studying and training for standardization, improvement; interning at enterprises or specialized agencies; observing classes, exchanging teaching experiences; participating in training teachers according to professional development requirements of the department, faculty, vocational education institution;

- Guiding internships; performing scientific and technological tasks; coaching students for skill competitions at various levels.

Are vocational theoretical education teachers in Vietnam required to have foreign language proficiency?

3. Standards of professional and vocational competence

a) Master the knowledge of the assigned teaching field; have knowledge of related fields; understand the production and service practices of the occupation;

b) Master the training objectives, training program content, safety techniques, and occupational hygiene of the assigned teaching field and the training plan of the vocational education institution to organize training;

c) Have the ability to use foreign languages and apply information technology in performing the duties of the position of vocational theoretical education teacher as required by the job position;

d) Effectively and safely use teaching aids and equipment; know how to apply information technology to enhance teaching effectiveness and training quality;

dd) Have basic knowledge of educational and vocational research methods and technology; be capable of participating in the execution of scientific and technological tasks, applying scientific and technical advancements or initiatives, technical improvements in teaching;

e) Public employees promoted to the position of vocational theoretical education teacher must have worked as a vocational education teacher - Code V.09.02.09 or vocational education teacher rank IV - Code V.09.02.09 or unqualified secondary school teacher - Code 15c.207 or equivalent for at least 03 (three) years, with the most recent time holding the position of vocational education teacher - Code V.09.02.09 or vocational education teacher rank IV - Code V.09.02.09 for at least 01 (one) year (12 months).

Thus, vocational theoretical education teachers must be capable of using foreign languages in performing the duties of the position of vocational theoretical education teacher as required by the job position.
