1. The earliest start date is 1 week prior to the commencement ceremony. For Grade 1, the earliest start date is 2 weeks prior to the commencement ceremony.

2. The commencement ceremony is to be held on September 5, 2024.

3. The first semester ends before January 18, 2025, completing the program and finishing the academic year before May 31, 2025.

4. The recognition of completion of primary school programs and middle school graduation must be done before June 30, 2025.

5. The enrollment for entry-level classes must be completed before July 31, 2025.

6. The high school graduation exam of 2025 is expected to take place on June 26 and 27, 2025.

7. Other national exams will be conducted according to the regulations and guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Thus, according to the 2024-2025 academic year framework plan, the opening ceremony will be held on September 5, 2024. Therefore, there are 13 days left until the start of the academic year 2024-2025.

What is the Deadline for Submitting the Report on the Preparation for the Academic Year 2024-2025 in Vietnam?

Article 3 of Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT 2024 stipulates as follows:

Responsibilities for Implementation

1. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, central-affiliated cities, is responsible for deciding:

a) The time plan for the academic year for preschool education, general education, and continuing education to suit the local reality.

b) The early start and extension of the academic year, not exceeding 15 days compared to the regulations in Article 1 of this Decision, to ensure the implementation and completion of preschool, general, and continuing education programs in the event of natural disasters or epidemics; for other special cases, report to the Ministry of Education and Training before implementation.

2. The Director of the Department of Education and Training:

a) Decides on student holidays in the event of severe weather, natural disasters and arranges make-up classes; ensures teacher leave during the academic year.

b) Reports to the Ministry of Education and Training on:

- The preparation status and organization of the commencement ceremony for the academic year 2024-2025 before September 10, 2024;

- Summary of the implementation of tasks, key solutions for the academic year 2024-2025, and results of the performance of emulation criteria, proposing commendations for the academic year before June 25, 2025.

Therefore, the Director of the Department of Education and Training is responsible for reporting to the Ministry of Education and Training on the preparation status and organization of the commencement ceremony for the academic year 2024-2025 before September 10, 2024.

According to Article 2 of Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT 2024 stipulates as follows:

Principles for Developing the Academic Year Time Plan of Localities

1. The academic year time plan of localities must ensure 35 weeks of actual study (the first semester has 18 weeks, the second semester has 17 weeks).

2. The academic year time plan must be suitable for the characteristics and actual conditions of the locality.

3. Holidays and Tet holidays are implemented according to the provisions of the Labor Code and annual guidance documents.

4. Teachers' annual leave is taken during the summer vacation or can be interspersed at other times of the year to suit specific characteristics and the time plan of the locality.

5. The time plan for the academic year needs to ensure synchronization for all educational levels in a locality, especially in schools with multiple education levels.

Thus, each local government will develop its academic year time plan suitable to its characteristics and actual conditions. However, it must ensure 35 weeks of actual study, with 18 weeks in the first semester and 17 weeks in the second semester.
