Issuing the schedule for the 2024-2025 school year for preschool, general education, and continuing education applicable nationwide as follows:

  1. Students will return to school at the earliest one week before the opening ceremony. For Grade 1, students will return to school at the earliest two weeks before the opening ceremony.

  2. The opening ceremony will be held on September 5, 2024.

  3. The first semester will end before January 18, 2025, and the academic year will be completed and end before May 31, 2025.

  4. Recognition of primary school program completion and junior high school graduation will be completed before June 30, 2025.

  5. Admission for first-year students will be completed before July 31, 2025.

  6. The 2025 high school graduation exam is expected to take place on June 26 and 27, 2025.

  7. Other national exams will be organized according to the regulations and guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Thus, the 2024-2025 school year will commence on September 5, 2024. Students will return to school at the earliest on August 29, one week before the opening ceremony. Specifically, Grade 1 students will return to school at the earliest on August 22, 2024, two weeks before the opening ceremony.

As such, it will be at least 21 days until students return to school after the summer break, and for Grade 1 students, it will be at least 13 days.

The general education program will be implemented according to the following schedule:

  1. From the 2020-2021 school year for Grade 1.

  2. From the 2021-2022 school year for Grade 2 and Grade 6.

  3. From the 2022-2023 school year for Grade 3, Grade 7, and Grade 10.

  4. From the 2023-2024 school year for Grade 4, Grade 8, and Grade 11.

  5. From the 2024-2025 school year for Grade 5, Grade 9, and Grade 12.

Thus, the 2018 general education program will apply to all students in the 2024-2025 school year.

Duties of primary school students

Based on the provisions of Article 34 of the Primary School Charter issued with Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDDT, the duties of primary school students include:

- Studying and training according to the educational plan and school regulations; having a sense of self-discipline to study and train to develop comprehensive qualities and capabilities according to the goals of the primary school curriculum.- Fully and effectively performing learning tasks; knowing how to self-study under the guidance of teachers; actively participating in experiential activities, applying learned knowledge in practical life; exercising, and maintaining personal hygiene.- Being respectful to parents, grandparents; respectful and polite to teachers, elderlies; uniting, loving, and helping friends, juniors, the elderly, disabled people, and those with difficult circumstances.- Adhering to the school rules, protecting school property and public places; complying with traffic order and safety; maintaining hygiene and protecting the environment.- Contributing to activities aimed at building, protecting, and promoting the traditions of the school and local community.

Duties of lower and upper secondary school students

Based on the provisions of Article 34 of the Regulations of Junior High Schools, Senior High Schools, and Multi-level Schools issued with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, the duties of lower and upper secondary school students include:

- Fulfilling the learning and training tasks according to the school’s educational plan.

- Respecting parents, school staff, teachers, and the elderly; uniting and helping each other in studying and training; following the school's regulations and state laws.

- Exercising and maintaining personal hygiene.

- Participating in school and class collective activities, in activities of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; helping families, participating in labor and social activities, environmental protection activities, and traffic safety.

- Safeguarding, protecting school property and public places; contributing to building, protecting, and promoting the school's traditions.

What are prohibited acts of students in Vietnam upon returning to school?

For primary school students

Based on Article 37 of the Primary School Charter issued with Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDDT, primary school students are prohibited from:

- Causing disruptions affecting the class, school, and public activities.- Engaging in activities that endanger themselves and others during play.

For middle and high school students

Based on Article 37 of the Regulations of Junior High Schools, Senior High Schools, and Multi-level Schools issued with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, middle and high school students are prohibited from:

- Insulting the dignity and honor, harming the body of teachers, staff, and other students.

- Cheating in studies, exams, and admissions.

- Buying, selling, or using alcohol, beer, tobacco, addictive substances, stimulants, fireworks, and explosives.

- Using mobile phones and other devices not for learning and not permitted by teachers during class.

- Fighting, causing disturbances, or insecurity in the school and public places.

- Using, exchanging cultural products with violent or obscene content; using toys or playing games that are harmful to healthy development.

- Students must not violate other prohibited acts as per the law.
