Article 12 of the Regulations on Admission and Training at the Master's Level issued with Circular 23/2021/TT-BGDDT prescribes as follows:
Recognition of Graduation and Awarding of Master’s Degree
1.Eligibility for graduation:
a) Has completed the courses of the training program and successfully defended the thesis or project;
b) Has met the foreign language proficiency requirements according to the program's output standards before the time of graduation consideration; this can be demonstrated by one of the diplomas or language certificates equivalent to Level 4 according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam stipulated in the Appendix of these Regulations, or other equivalent certificates announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, or a bachelor's degree or higher in a foreign language major, or a bachelor's degree or higher in another major where the program is conducted entirely in a foreign language;
c) Has fulfilled responsibilities according to the training institution’s regulations; is not being prosecuted for criminal liability and is not in the period of being disciplined, or suspended from school.
2. The education institution shall organize the graduation consideration and issue a decision on graduation recognition within 2 months from the date the student successfully defends the thesis or project; an additional maximum of 3 months in cases where thesis or project appraisal is required.
3. The education institution shall award the master’s degree to the student within 1 month from the date of the graduation recognition decision.

According to the regulations, the education institution shall organize the graduation consideration and issue a decision on graduation recognition within 2 months from the date the student successfully defends the thesis or project; an additional maximum of 3 months in cases where thesis or project appraisal is required.
The education institution shall award the master’s degree to the student within 1 month from the date of the graduation recognition decision.
Thus, it takes a maximum of 3 months from the date the student successfully defends the thesis or project for the education institution to award the master’s degree to the student, except in cases where thesis or project appraisal is required, in which case it takes a maximum of 6 months from the date the student successfully defends the thesis or project.

What are training formats of master's degree in Vietnam?
According to Article 3 of the Regulations on Admission and Training at the Master's Level issued with Circular 23/2021/TT-BGDDT, the training formats of master's degree in Vietnam are as follows:
Training format and duration
1. Formal training applies to research-oriented and application-oriented programs. Part-time degree training applies to application-oriented programs. The duration of teaching activities for each form of training is implemented according to the Regulations on Undergraduate Training issued by the Ministry of Education and Training.
2. For each form of training, the training institution provides a standard whole-course study plan for each training program to guide students. The training duration is stipulated as follows:
a) The duration according to the standard whole-course study plan must be compatible with the duration stipulated in the National Education System Framework, while ensuring that the majority of students complete the training program;
b) The duration according to the standard whole-course study plan for part-time training must be at least 20% longer than that for full-time training of the same training program;
c) The maximum duration for students to complete the course is stipulated in the training institution’s regulations but does not exceed 2 times the duration according to the standard whole-course study plan for each form of training.

What are conditions for enrollment for training at the master's level in Vietnam?
According to the regulations in Article 5 of the Regulations on Admission and Training at the Master's Level issued with Circular 23/2021/TT-BGDDT, the conditions for enrollment to the master's level are as follows:
- Has graduated or is eligible for recognition of university graduation (or equivalent or higher level) in a relevant field; for research-oriented programs, a graduation grade of fairly good or higher or scientific publication related to the field to be studied and researched is required;
- Has foreign language proficiency of Level 3 or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam;
- Meets other requirements of the training program standards issued by the Ministry of Education and Training and as stipulated by the training program.
Note:
- For foreign applicants registering for master's programs in Vietnamese, they must:
+ Have Vietnamese proficiency of Level 4 or higher according to the Vietnam Language Proficiency for foreigners or have a bachelor's degree (or equivalent or higher) where the program was taught in Vietnamese;
+ Meet the requirements for a second foreign language as stipulated by the training institution (if any).
- For programs taught in a foreign language, applicants must meet the foreign language requirements, specifically by possessing one of the following diplomas or certificates:
+ A bachelor's degree or higher in a language used in teaching; or a bachelor's degree or higher where the program was mainly conducted in the teaching language;
+ One of the diplomas or certificates in the teaching language reaching Level 4 or higher according to the Foreign Language Proficiency consisting of 6 levels for Vietnam stipulated in the Appendix of the Regulations on Admission and Training at the Master's Level issued with Circular 23/2021/TT-BGDDT or other equivalent certificates announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, valid until the registration date.
