Under Clause 1 and Clause 4, Article 2 of the Regulation on visiting teaching policies in educational institutions issued together with Circular 44/2011/TT-BGDDT, the regulations are as follows:
- visiting teaching is when an educational institution invites educators or individuals who meet the teacher qualification standards stipulated in Article 5 of the Regulation on visiting teaching policies in educational institutions issued together with Circular 44/2011/TT-BGDDT to:
+ Teach subjects and units of study stipulated in preschool, general education, continuous education, vocational education and training, and undergraduate programs;
+ Deliver specialized lectures;
+ Supervise, participate in grading, and serve on the assessment committee for thesis projects and graduation papers; supervise and participate in master's thesis and doctoral dissertation assessment committees;
+ Supervise experiments, practices, and internships according to educational programs;
+ Participate in the development and enhancement of training programs, and compile textbooks, teaching materials, and reference books.
- A visiting teacher shall carry out the aforementioned visiting teaching activities at preschools, general education institutions, continuous education centers, and vocational education and training institutions.

1. Be entitled to remuneration, salary, and benefits as agreed upon in the visiting teaching contract and according to the law.

Therefore, the salary of visiting teachers will be determined based on the agreement in the visiting teaching contract between the visiting teacher and the educational institution.

What are the standards for visiting teachers in Vietnam?
Under Article 5 of the Regulation on visiting teaching policies in educational institutions issued together with Circular 44/2011/TT-BGDDT, the standards for visiting teachers are as follows:
- Regarding the teaching of subjects or specialized topics stipulated in preschool, general education, vocational education and training, undergraduate, and continuous education programs leading to national educational system diplomas, visiting teachers must meet the standards set out in Article 67 of the Education Law 2019, including:
+ Have good morals, ideological and mental qualifications;
+ Meet professional standards of teaching position;
+ Have skills in updating and upgrading professional capacity and knowledge; and
+ Maintain good health as required by the profession.
- For visiting teachers who are staffed teachers or tenured teachers at preschools or general education institutions, they must meet the professional standards for the level at which they are lecturing.
- Regarding teaching specialized topics not included in preschool, general education, vocational education and training, undergraduate, and continuous education programs leading to national educational system diplomas as stated in Point b, Clause 1, Article 2 of the Regulation on visiting teaching policies in educational institutions issued together with Circular 44/2011/TT-BGDDT, visiting teachers must have appropriate academic qualifications and professional experience.
- For teaching foreign language and informatics training programs at continuous education centers, visiting teachers must have a professional qualification of college or higher.
- For supervising, participating in grading, and being on assessment committees for thesis projects and graduation papers; supervising, and participating in master's thesis and doctoral dissertation assessment committees, visiting teachers must meet the standards set out in Article 67 of the Education Law 2019 and master's and doctoral training regulations.
- For supervising experiments, practices, and internships according to educational programs, visiting teachers must meet the requirements for experiments, practices, internships of the subject, specialized topic, and educational program; and meet the standards for laboratory staff.
- For participating in the development and enhancement of training programs, compiling textbooks, teaching materials, and reference books in the field or specialization of visiting teaching, visiting teachers must meet at least one of the following requirements:
+ Have scientific works published in scientific journals or conference proceedings domestically or internationally;
+ Have published specialized monographs;
+ Have research topics approved and accepted at the level of department or higher;
+ Have technology transfer contracts that have been accepted and liquidated.
