Hanoi City implements the writing and voting contest for Happy Schools in 2024
On September 24, 2024, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training issued Official Dispatch 3284/SGDDT-CTTT-KHCN 2024 on implementing the 2024 Writing and Voting Contest for Happy Schools.
Purpose and significance
The Writing and Voting Contest for Happy Schools aims to promote the participation rights of students nationwide; encourage them to develop a positive lifestyle and mindset, spread good values and humanity; and build a safe and happy learning environment for both teachers and students.
Participants: Students under 18 years old.
Deadline for submissions: Until the end of October 20, 2024.
Rules for the 2024 Happy Schools Writing Contest
- Format: Participants are to submit one hand-written piece, no longer than 1,000 words (or a maximum of 3 notebook pages) to the Organizing Committee.
- Genre: Essays, letters, narratives, poems, etc.
- Content: Sharing memorable moments involving relationships with friends, teachers, in studies, subjects, the school where you're studying, which bring happiness and profound lessons for students, motivating them to enjoy school. Particularly, pieces with spreading values, inspiration to other students, and the community will be highlighted.
- Submission steps:
Participants must complete two steps: Submit the paper copy to the Organizing Committee and register online to receive a certificate from the Organizing Committee.
Invalid submissions include:
- Typed submissions.
- Works not written by the student or with adult intervention.
- Plagiarized works in any form; if quoted, there must be clear citations; violations of copyright will result in disqualification or revocation of the prize if awarded.
- Incomplete participant information or not adhering to the topic.
- Works created by more than one author.
- Works previously entered in other competitions or printed in publications, journals, or media.
Rules for the 2024 Happy Schools Voting Contest
- Students, parents, schools, and the community use Gmail accounts to participate in voting for Happy Schools online on the Voting Portal of Vietnam Children's Electronic Magazine at: https://treemvietnam.net.vn/truong-hoc-hanh-phuc#binh-chon
* Note: Schools need to send registration forms (according to the attached sample) and the school logo to the email [email protected]; Within 24 hours, the Organizing Committee will record the information, activate the voting link, and send it back via the school's email.
- Deadline for registration: Until October 10, 2024.
- Voting period: Until October 10, 2024.

Based on the Appendix issued with Decision 1468/QD-SGDDT 2024, the criteria for Happy Schools in general education institutions in Hanoi City are as follows:
Criterion 1 | Ensure a friendly, cohesive, safe working and learning environment without school violence. Build a culture of behavior and effectively implement democratic regulations in schools. |
Criterion 2 | Build happy classes, happy lessons, and happy schools. Measure a happy school by the progress and joy of students, and the satisfaction of staff, teachers, and parents. |
Criterion 3 | Schools meet the standards of brightness, greenness, cleanliness, beauty, and safety. |
Criterion 4 | Close cooperation among Family - School - Society. |
Criterion 5 | Staff, teachers, and students possess teamwork skills and cooperation spirit. |
Criterion 6 | Staff, teachers, and employees are trained in awareness, expertise, and skills; able to employ new, creative teaching methods suitable for the educational program. |
Criterion 7 | Teaching methods and organization are appropriate, engaging, encouraging active participation, developing each student's abilities and talents. The learning content is practical, intriguing, applicable, and related to real life, emphasizing traditional education. |
Criterion 8 | Effective organization of experiential education activities, extracurricular activities, psychological counseling, playgrounds, events within and outside of school, aiming at values of truth, goodness, and beauty. |
Criterion 9 | Implement activities to enhance physical and mental health, and gender education through social work in schools. |
Criterion 10 | Staff, teachers, and students are ensured safety, love, respect, listening, and understanding. Build positive relationships based on trust, fairness, tolerance, and respect for differences. |
Criterion 11 | Staff, teachers, and employees set examples for students in teacher-student relationships, communication, showcasing ethics, manners, professionalism, and skills. |
Criterion 12 | Staff, teachers, and students are healthy both physically and mentally; equipped with life values, and skills, and provided opportunities for everyone to progress without anyone being left behind. |
Criterion 13 | Manage negative emotions; build positive and good relationships. |
Criterion 14 | Adhere to the Code of Conduct in preschools, general education institutions, and continuing education facilities of the Ministry of Education and Training and the 02 Code of Conducts of the City, promoting the elegance and civility of Hanoians. |

According to the Appendix issued with Decision 1468/QD-SGDDT 2024, the 12 criteria for Happy Preschools in Hanoi City include:

Criterion 5 | Environment is bright, green, clean, beautiful, safe, and friendly. |
