Selection of texts for teaching Vietnamese Language in grade 5
According to Section IX, Appendix of the General Education Program for Literature, issued in Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the suggestions for choosing texts for grade 5 Vietnamese are as follows:
- Based on the criteria for text selection (stated in Section V) and the requirements for text selection (stated in Section VIII), the program builds a list of suggested texts (linguistic materials) for selection in each grade.
This list is not exhaustive for all grades but serves as illustrative examples of genres, text types, topics, and suitability for the age's cognition and psychology to meet the reading, writing, speaking, and listening requirements for each grade.
To facilitate and make the selection of texts flexible, the suggested texts are categorized into group classes: Grades 1, 2, and 3; Grades 4 and 5; Grades 6 and 7; Grades 8 and 9; Grades 10, 11, and 12 (Text titles in all grades are arranged alphabetically).
Textbook authors can use this list to choose and find additional texts of equivalent genres and difficulty levels as long as they meet the criteria (stated in Section V) and the text selection requirements (stated in Section VIII).
- The suggested texts (linguistic materials) in this list are organized according to text type and genre (stories, poems, plays, memoirs, essays, information).
The number of texts in each type varies, depending on the program's requirements.
This list includes both new and currently used texts in textbooks (reorganized to fit the requirements of each grade), ensuring a balance between inheritance and innovation. For informational texts, specific text titles are not mentioned; instead, it lists the topics and text types for the textbook authors to choose.
Authors listed in this list only appear once across all three educational stages, except for a few mandatory authors and works mentioned in the program.
To guide textbook authors in choosing appropriate texts for each group class, this list mentions the distribution for mandatory works as well.
