The 2nd Vietnam International Defence Expo will take place from December 19 to December 22, 2024, at the Gia Lam Airport area (Hanoi).

This important event is organized by the Ministry of National Defense to showcase new defense products researched and manufactured by domestic defense enterprises.

The Vietnam International Defence Expo 2024 is one of a series of meaningful activities commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th All People's National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024).

Are upper secondary school students entitled to a day off to visit the Vietnam International Defence Expo?

According to regulations, upper secondary school students will have days off according to their teacher's schedule.

Under Article 112 of the Labor Code 2019:

Public holidays

1. Employees shall be entitled to fully paid days off on the following public holidays:

a) Gregorian Calendar New Year Holiday: 01 day (the 1st of January of the Gregorian calendar);

b) Lunar New Year Holidays: 05 days;

c) Victory Day: 01 day (the 30th of April of the Gregorian calendar);

d) International Labor Day: 01 day (the 1st of May of the Gregorian calendar);

dd) National Day: 02 days (the 2nd of September of the Gregorian calendar and the previous or next day);

e) Hung Kings Commemoration Day: 01 day (the 10th of the third month of the Lunar calendar).

2. Foreign employees in Vietnam are entitled to 01 traditional public holiday and 01 National Day of their country, in addition to the public holidays stipulated in Clause 1 of this Article.

3. The Prime Minister shall decide the specific public holidays mentioned in Point b and Point dd Clause 1 of this Article on an annual basis.

Thus, according to the regulations, the Vietnam International Defence Expo 2024 is not a major holiday. Therefore, upper secondary school students will not have a day off and will attend school as usual.

However, if the Vietnam International Defence Expo 2024 occurs on a day off, upper secondary school students may visit the Vietnam International Defence Expo.

What are the disciplinary measures against upper secondary school students in Vietnam?

According to Clause 2, Article 38 of the lower secondary school, upper secondary school and multi-level school charter issued along with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT:

Reward and discipline

1. Teachers, secondary schools and education authorities shall reward students with learning and training achievements in the following ways:

a) Commend them in front of the class or the whole school.

b) Grant them titles for students according to regulations.

c) Grant certificates and certificates of merit to students with outstanding achievements or exceptional improvement in learning or emulation movements and competition winners according to regulations and with permission from the Ministry of Education and Training.

d) Other ways to reward.

2. Students making a mistake during the learning and training process shall be corrected or disciplined in the following ways:

a) Give the student a reminder, directly support them in correcting their mistake.

b) Reprimand the student, inform the student’s parent(s) to have the parent(s) cooperate in supporting the student in correcting their mistake.

c) Suspend the student’s study at school for a definite period and take other correcting measures according to regulations from the Ministry of Education and Training.

Thus, disciplinary measures against upper secondary school students in Vietnam inlcude:

- Give the student a reminder, directly support them in correcting their mistake.
