On February 26, 2025, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 37/2025/ND-CP regarding the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam.

According to Article 3 of Decree 37/2025/ND-CP Download, the organizational structure of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam includes 18 units comprising:
(1) 15 organizations under the Ministry assisting the Minister in performing state management functions:
- Department of Preschool Education;
- Department of General Education;
- Department of Higher Education;
- Department of National Defense and Security Education;
- Department of Student Affairs;
- Legal Department;
- Department of Personnel Organization;
- Department of Planning and Finance;
- Office;
- Inspectorate;
- Department of Teachers and Educational Managers;
- Department of Quality Management;
- Department of Science, Technology and Information;
- Department of International Cooperation;
- Department of Vocational Education and Continuing Education;
(2) 03 public service providers serving the ministry's state management functions:
- Education and Times Newspaper;
- The Education Journal;
- Vietnamese Institute of Educational Sciences.
Previously, according to Article 3 Decree 86/2022/ND, the organizational structure of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam comprised up to 23 units.

What are the tasks and powers of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam regarding educational objectives, programs, and content?
Under Clause 3, Article 2 of Decree 37/2025/ND-CP Download, the tasks and powers of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam regarding educational objectives, programs, and content are as follows:
- Guide and organize the implementation of educational objectives suitable to educational levels and training levels of the national education system;
- The Ministry issues preschool education programs; prescribes standards, processes for compiling, revising preschool education programs; prescribes tasks, powers, operation methods, standards, quantity, and structure of members of the National Council for Preschool Education Program Appraisal;
- Issue general education programs; prescribe standards and processes for compiling and revising general education programs; prescribe tasks, powers, operation methods, standards, quantity, and structure of members of the National Council for General Education Program Appraisal; prescribe teaching of high school cultural knowledge in vocational education institutions;
- Simultaneously, stipulate programs, content, organizational implementation of national defense and security education programs for learners in high schools, higher education institutions, and vocational education institutions; prescribe continuing education programs; provide regulations on construction, appraisal, issuance of training programs and lists of majors, professions at higher education and vocational education levels; stipulate other vocational training programs as prescribed by the vocational education law; issue university preparatory training programs; guide building a learning society, creating policies to promote lifelong learning.
What are the tasks and powers of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam regarding educational quality accreditation?
According to Clause 12, Article 2 of Decree 37/2025/ND-CP Download, the tasks and powers of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam regarding educational quality accreditation are as follows:
- Set standards for evaluating education quality including educational institutions and training programs; procedures and cycles for accrediting education quality at different educational levels and training degrees; principles for activities, conditions, and standards for organizations and individuals engaged in educational quality accreditation; grant permits for educational quality accreditation activities; issue and revoke educational quality accreditation certificates;
- Submit to the Government of Vietnam regulations on conditions, procedures for establishing, allowing activities, suspending, dissolving quality accreditation organizations; stipulate conditions and procedures for foreign educational quality accreditation organizations to be recognized for operations in Vietnam;
- Decide or decentralize decisions on the establishment or permitting establishment, operations, suspending operations, dissolving quality accreditation organizations; decide on recognition, revoke recognition of foreign educational quality accreditation organizations operating in Vietnam under law; regulate the supervision and evaluation of quality accreditation organizations;
- Manage activities of accrediting training programs and accrediting educational institutions; guide organizations, individuals, and educational institutions in conducting evaluations, accrediting education quality; inspect, evaluate the implementation of educational quality accreditation regulations.
