Do students need to authenticate their résumé when submitting enrollment documents in Vietnam?

Based on Article 21 of the Regulations on university and preschool education college admissions issued under Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT stipulating the announcement of results and admission confirmation as follows:

Announcement of results and admission confirmation

1. Training institutions send admission letters to successful candidates, which clearly state the necessary procedures for candidates upon admission and the admission method.

2. Candidates confirm their admission online on the system before admission at the training institution.

3. For candidates who do not confirm their admission within the prescribed time limit:

a) If there is no valid reason, it is considered that the candidate refuses to enroll, and the training institution has the right not to accept.

b) If due to illness or accident, with a certificate from a district hospital or higher, or due to natural disasters with a confirmation from the People's Committee of the district or higher, the training institution will consider deciding to admit the candidate or reserve the admission results for the candidate to enroll later.

c) If due to errors or mistakes by the admissions officer or the candidate himself, the training institution cooperates with the relevant individuals or organizations to consider the evidence and decide on the candidate’s admission or reserve the admission results for the candidate to enroll later.

4. Candidates who have confirmed admission at a training institution are not allowed to participate in other admissions or supplementary admissions unless permitted by the training institution.

Currently, Vietnamese law does not have regulations requiring résumé authentication or certification.

Typically, students making admission documents are not required to authenticate résumés. However, whether notarization is needed or not depends on the specific requirements of each school and will be clearly stated in the admission notice.

GUIDELINES FOR FILLING OUT THE 2024 RÉSUMÉ FOR STUDENTS IN VIETNAM

Section: Cover - Student’s résumé

Full name: Write in capital letters with diacritics

Section: Student’s personal information

Candidates paste a 4×6 photo into the frame on the left.

Full name: Write in capital letters with diacritics

Date of birth: Write the full date, month, and year of birth into the blank space.

Ethnicity, Religion, Place of birth: Write according to the information on the birth certificate.

Examination category: Note the category in the exam notification, leave blank if there is no priority category.

School code: Write the school code where you are about to enroll into the 3 blank boxes.

Exam number: This is your number from the recent National High School exam/aptitude test. Leave blank if directly admitted or prioritized admission.

Final year results in general, professional high school: This section records the 12th-grade learning results of students. Students must specify their academic and conduct grades. For the graduation classification section, leave it blank as the Ministry of Education and Training decided to omit graduation classification since 2016.

Date of joining Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union: Record as per your youth union membership book.

Date of joining the Communist Party of Vietnam: Record as per your party membership card/party admission decision or leave blank if not applicable.

Commendations, disciplinary actions: Record if you received commendations or disciplinary actions (leave blank if none).

Permanent residence: Accurately record the address as in your family’s household registration book, including house number, village, hamlet, commune (ward), district (county), province (city).

Policy beneficiary: Clearly state if you belong to a policy beneficiary category.

Priority area: Record the area as per the exam notice: 1; 2; 2NT, 3

Priority category: Record the category as per the exam notice: 1; 2; 3; 4; 5; 6; 7

Field of study: Name of the field you were admitted to.

Admission exam results: Record the total score of the 3 subjects considered for admission (after adding extra points, excluding priority points) and individual subject scores

Bonus points: Record if applicable from national or international exams; otherwise, leave blank.

Reason for direct admission and bonus points: Record if applicable; otherwise, leave blank.

ID card number: Insert your ID number correctly.

Summary of study, work, and labor process: Record the timeline of primary, lower secondary, and high school education.

Section: Family background

Information about father/mother/guardian: Full name, nationality, ethnicity, occupation, phone number...

Information about spouse: (If applicable)

Information about siblings: (If applicable)

Section: Confirmation

Family's declaration: A family member signs to confirm the information you have declared.

Your signature: Sign in the specified box.

Local government confirmation: Bring the documents to the commune/ward People's Committee for confirmation in this section.

Where can candidates in Vietnam find the 2024 university admission notice?

Based on Decision 1139/QD-BGDDT-2024 as follows:

- From August 13 to 5:00 PM on August 17, 2024, training institutions will organize university admissions and process candidates’ wishes on the System to determine successful admissions (highest wish among those the candidate qualifies for).

- By no later than 5:00 PM on August 19, 2024, training institutions will notify successful candidates.

- By no later than 5:00 PM on August 27, 2024, candidates must confirm their online admission for the first round on the System as per regulations.

From the above timeframes, training institutions will notify successful candidates after the first-round notification. From this point, universities may send admission notices to candidates.
