Based on point a, clause 2, Article 3 of Circular 48/2011/TT-BGDDT, working hours, and annual leave time for teachers are as follows:
Working hours, annual leave time for teachers
- The working hours in a year for preschool teachers is 42 weeks, including:
a) 35 weeks for nurturing, caring, and educating children (commonly referred to as teaching children);
b) 04 weeks for professional development and training;
c) 02 weeks for preparation for the new academic year;
d) 01 week for summarizing the academic year.
2. The annual leave time for preschool teachers includes summer vacation and other holidays. Specifically:
a) The summer vacation for teachers is 08 weeks, and they receive full salary and allowances, subsidies (if any);
b) Other holidays are carried out according to the provisions of the Labor Code and current regulations.
Based on the academic year's plan, the scale, characteristics, and specific conditions of each school, the principal reasonably arranges the annual leave time for teachers accordingly.
According to the regulations, during the summer vacation, preschool teachers are entitled to receive full salary and allowances, subsidies (if any). Thus, preschool teachers during summer vacation still get paid.

What are the teaching hours of preschool teachers in Vietnam?
Based on Article 4 of Circular 48/2011/TT-BGDDT, the teaching hours of preschool teachers are regulated as follows:
- For teachers teaching groups of children, kindergarten classes with two sessions/day, each teacher must teach 6 hours/day in class and perform preparatory work for the class as well as other tasks assigned by the principal to ensure working 40 hours/week.
- For teachers teaching groups of children, kindergarten classes with one session/day, each teacher must teach 4 hours/day in class and perform preparatory work for the class as well as other tasks assigned by the principal to ensure working 40 hours/week.
- For teachers teaching classes with children with disabilities in an inclusive setting, each teacher must teach the number of hours specified in clause 1 or clause 2 of this Article; in which, for each disabled child in the class, each teacher is credited with an additional 0.5 teaching hour/day.
- For principals and vice principals, besides performing the tasks of the principal and vice principal according to the preschool regulation, the principal must directly participate in educational activities (teaching children or observing teaching sessions of teachers in the school) for 2 hours a week; the vice principal must directly participate in educational activities for 4 hours a week.

- Perform nurturing, caring, and educating children according to the preschool education program.
- Maintain the integrity, honor, and reputation of educators; treat children fairly and respect their personalities; protect the legitimate rights and interests of children; show solidarity and help colleagues; adhere to the teacher's code of conduct and other ethical regulations as stipulated.
- Disseminate scientific knowledge on child-rearing to parents; actively cooperate with children's families to achieve educational goals.
- Continually learn and enhance professional skills in nurturing, caring, and educating children.
- Comply with school regulations and other legal provisions.
* Rights of preschool teachers:
Based on Article 29 of the Preschool Regulation issued together with Circular 52/2020/TT-BGDDT, preschool teachers have the following rights:
- Be respected, and protected in terms of dignity, honor, and physical integrity, and enjoy material and spiritual benefits as per regulations.
- Have autonomy in performing professional duties with the support of specialized teams and the school; be ensured conditions to perform tasks in nurturing, caring for, and educating children.
- Receive salary, allowances, subsidies, and other benefits according to legal regulations.
- Be facilitated to study and improve professional skills, receive full salary, allowances during the course and other relevant policies when authorized to attend training.
- Be rewarded, recognized for achievements, and conferred honors and other prestigious titles according to regulations.
- Enjoy other rights as stipulated by law.
