(1) Number of papers

According to Article 3 of the High School Graduation Examination Regulations issued with Circular 24/2024/TT-BGDDT stipulates as follows:

From 2025, candidates will take only 4 subjects, including 2 mandatory subjects (Literature and Mathematics) and 2 elective subjects (from the remaining subjects studied in grade 12, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Economics and Law Education, Informatics, Industrial-oriented Technology (referred to as Industrial Technology), Agriculture-oriented Technology (referred to as Agricultural Technology), Foreign Languages (English, Russian, French, Chinese, German, Japanese, and Korean).

(2) Exam Format:

According to the appendix promulgated with Decision 764/QD-BGDDT in 2024 stipulating the format structure of the question papers for the high school graduation exam from 2025:

- Written exam applies to Literature:

+ Time allotted for paper: 120 minutes.

+ The question paper consists of: 02 parts (Reading Comprehension and Writing).

- Multiple-choice exam applies to the remaining subjects. To be specific:

Note:

- Part I includes multiple-choice questions with four options from which to select one correct answer.

- Part II includes multiple-choice questions in True/False format. Each question has 04 statements, and candidates choose True or False for each.

- Part III includes short-answer multiple-choice questions. Candidates fill in the boxes corresponding to their answer.

Note (1): There are 02 questions for all candidates; 02 questions for candidates oriented towards Computer Science; 02 questions for candidates oriented towards Applied Informatics.

(3) Exam Content

Under Article 4 of the Regulation on High School Graduation papers issued with Circular 24/2024/TT-BGDDT regulating exam date, schedule, content, format, time allotted for papers, and question paper in Vietnam:

Under the appendix issued with Decision 764/QD-BGDDT in 2024, the method of calculating scores in the High School Graduation Exam in Vietnam from 2025 is as follows:

- For the written paper:

+ Part I - Reading Comprehension: 04 points.

+ Part II - Writing: 06 points.

+ Maximum total score for the whole paper: 10 points.

- For the multiple-choice paper:

+ Part I: Each correct answer results in 0.25 points for the candidate.

+ Part II:

(i) Candidates selecting precisely 01 correct statement in a question receive 0.1 points;

(ii) Candidates selecting precisely 02 correct statements in a question receive 0.25 points;

(iii) Candidates selecting precisely 03 correct statements in a question receive 0.5 points;

(iv) Candidates selecting all 04 correct statements in a question receive 1 point.

+ Part III:

(i) Mathematics: Each correct answer results in 0.5 points for the candidate.

(ii) Other subjects: Each correct answer results in 0.25 points for the candidate.

+ Maximum total score for the whole paper: 10 points

What are the regulations on eligible candidates and eligibility requirements for taking the high school graduation exam from 2025 in Vietnam?

Under Article 19 of the Regulation on the high school graduation exam issued together with Circular 24/2024/TT-BGDDT (effective from February 8, 2025), the eligible candidates and eligibility requirements for taking the high school graduation exam from 2025 in Vietnam are stipulated as follows:

1. Eligible candidates include:

- Individuals who have completed the General Education/Continuing Education program in the year of the exam;

- Individuals who have completed the General Education/Continuing Education program but have not graduated in previous years;

- Individuals who already hold a High School Diploma but retake the exam to use the results for enrollment registration;

- Individuals who already hold a Post-secondary Diploma who retake the exam to use the results for enrollment registration.

2. Eligibility requirements for taking the exam

- Eligible candidates must register and submit all required documents on time;

- Candidates under point d, clause 1 of this Article must ensure they have studied and met the requirements for sufficient high school cultural knowledge volume as stipulated by the Education Law 2019 and current guidance documents from the Ministry of Education and Training.
