Article 11 of the Regulation on the National Excellent Student Selection Exam issued together with Circular 17/2023/TT-BGDDT, the establishment of the competition team is as follows:

Establishment of the Competition Team

1. For the National Excellent Student Selection Exam:

a) The participating units establish their competition teams ensuring they meet all the requirements stipulated in Clause 1, Article 4, and Clause 1, Article 12 of this Regulation.

b) The units submit the registration forms for subjects, the number of candidates for each subject, and the list of candidates for each subject to the Department of Quality Management at least 30 days before the exam date. After this deadline, no adjustments to the list of registered candidates will be made.

2. For selecting the Olympic team: The Ministry of Education and Training conducts the selection and summoning of candidates, meeting the requirements stipulated in Clause 2, Article 4, and Clause 2, Article 12 of this Regulation.

Thus, the deadline for submitting the list of candidates for the National Excellent Student Selection Exam to the Department of Quality Management is at least 30 days before the exam date.

After this deadline, no adjustments to the list of registered candidates will be made.

What are other benefits for students winning National Excellent Student Awards in Vietnam?

Based on Article 35 of the Regulation on the National Excellent Student Selection Exam issued together with Circular 17/2023/TT-BGDDT, some benefits for students winning the national excellent student awards include:

- Students winning awards in the National Excellent Student Selection Exam are granted a Certificate of Merit and rewarded.

- Students winning awards in the National Excellent Student Selection Exam and having graduated from high school are offered direct admission and priority admission to universities and colleges as per the current regulations of the university and college entrance examination regulations for the field of Early Childhood Education.

- 12th-grade students participating in the selection for the Olympic team are exempted from the high school graduation exam.

- Students who are members of the international and regional Olympic teams are directly admitted to universities under the current regulations and are prioritized for scholarships to study abroad funded by the state budget.

What are contents of the Exam for the National High School Excellent Student Selection in Vietnam?

Clause 2, Article 5 of the Regulation on the National Excellent Student Selection Exam issued together with Circular 17/2023/TT-BGDDT stipulates as follows:

Exam Subjects, Content, Format, Duration

1. Exam subjects:

a) For the National Excellent Student Selection Exam, the subjects are: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Literature, History, Geography, and Foreign Languages (English, Russian, French, Chinese). The examination will be held only for subjects with at least 5 units registering. Adjustments to the exam subjects (if any) will be considered and decided by the Minister of Education and Training;

b) For the Olympic team selection exam, the subjects are: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics.

2. Exam content: Includes the content from the general education curriculum and specialized subjects at the high school level; the content of the Olympic team selection exam approaches international and regional Olympic standards.

3. Exam format, duration:

a) For the National Excellent Student Selection Exam: There are two exam sessions for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, and Foreign Languages; one exam session for Literature, History, Geography; the exam duration is 180 minutes. Informatics is conducted in a programming format on the computer; other subjects are in written format; Foreign Languages include an additional speaking test with 5 minutes preparation and 5 minutes to record;

b) For the Olympic team selection exam: There are two exam sessions per subject; particularly, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology have an additional practical exam session; the exam duration for Informatics is 300 minutes per test, Mathematics is 270 minutes per test, and other subjects are 240 minutes per test. The practical exam duration for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology is 180 minutes.

The content of the high school national excellent student selection exam will be within the general education curriculum and specialized subjects at the high school level.

Additionally, the exam subjects may include: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Literature, History, Geography, and Foreign Languages (English, Russian, French, Chinese).
