What are the university admissions under the general plan in Vietnam?
Based on Article 20 of the Regulation on university admissions and preschool education college admissions issued with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the admission and processing of enrollment requests under the general plan are as follows:
- Training institutions autonomously organize admissions according to their own methods and criteria or voluntarily cooperate in groups to organize admissions based on general methods and criteria. The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) guides the admission schedule and supports the processing of enrollment requests on the system.
- After the registration period for enrollment requests on the system ends, the training institutions download information and data from the system to serve the admission process, including enrollment requests and results of the National High School Exam and high school academic records of candidates applying to the training institutions through various admission methods.
- Admission Principles:
+ Admission scores are set to match the number of candidates admitted in each major, consistent with the announced quotas and not lower than the input threshold;
+ For a training major (or training program) by a method and subject combination, all candidates are equally selected based on the admission scores regardless of the priority order of registered choices, except as otherwise provided;
+ In cases where multiple candidates have the same final admission scores, training institutions may use a secondary criterion, which is the order of priority of the enrollment request, to select those with higher priority;
+ The use of regional and subject priority scores in admissions must be consistent with the priority score regulations outlined in Article 7 of the university admissions regulation, preschool education college admissions Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT.
- After each admission cycle, training institutions upload the list of candidates expected to qualify for admission in each major and training program (through various admission methods) to the system.
The system for processing enrollment requests will automatically exclude lower-priority requests of candidates who qualify for admission to multiple choices, returning the list of candidates expected to be admitted to their highest-priority request.
- Based on the results of enrollment request processing, training institutions repeat the admission process in subsequent cycles, adjusting admission scores to fit the quotas within the stipulated timeframe.
In the final cycle, training institutions determine the admission scores for each major and training program (through various admission methods) and upload the official list of candidates qualifying for admission to the system.
Based on the final enrollment request processing results, training institutions decide the list of candidates admitted to each major and training program.
- Training institutions announce the admission scores (and any additional conditions and criteria if any) for each major and training program through various admission methods; they also organize for candidates to check their admission results on the training institution's website (or the coordinating group of training institutions).
