Under Article 3 of Circular 08/2024/TT-BGDDT, the integrated national defense and security education content in schools is stipulated as follows:
* For primary education level
- The national defense and security education content is integrated into subjects and educational activities for each class, following textbooks chosen by the school, suitable for the student's cognitive abilities in each locality, focused on subjects: Vietnamese; Natural and Social Sciences; Ethics; History and Geography; Arts (Music, Fine Arts); Experiential Activities.
- General themes integrated from grades 1 to 5: education on the love for the homeland, peace, and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; national pride and self-esteem, gratitude towards heroes and martyrs in the construction and defense of the Fatherland; protection of national security, maintenance of social order and safety; introduction to Vietnam's maritime and island sovereignty; education on the spirit of solidarity, mutual assistance, helping each other out, with a sense of organization and discipline in learning.
- Themes integrated by grade
+ Grade 1: educating students about love for the homeland, peace, and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; introducing some images of the Vietnam People's Army and People's Public Security of Vietnam; some historical relics of the locality.
+ Grade 2: educating students on the spirit of national unity, the sacrifices of revolutionary soldiers in the wars against French colonialists and American imperialists; introducing some images of officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army and People's Public Security of Vietnam performing the tasks of defending the Fatherland and maintaining social order and safety; educating students to know love, share, help and protect each other in learning.
+ Grade 3: education on the tradition of fighting foreign invaders of the nation; introducing the brave examples of teenagers and children, Vietnamese heroic mothers in the national liberation cause; activities and images of students participating in environmental protection in the local area and school.
+ Grade 4: introducing the administrative map of Vietnam, asserting Vietnam's sovereignty over the Paracel and Spratly archipelagos; some songs about the sea and islands of Vietnam; education on the consciousness of complying with laws on traffic order and safety.
+ Grade 5: introducing the sovereignty and sovereign rights over Vietnam's seas and islands; some images of the exploitation of fisheries, aquatic resources, and natural resources for socio-economic development, national defense, and security assurance; the brave examples of officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army and People's Public Security in rescue and disaster relief.
* For lower secondary education level
- The national defense and security education content is integrated into subjects and educational activities for each class, following textbooks chosen by the school, suitable for the students' cognitive abilities in each locality, concentrating on subjects: Literature; Civic Education; History and Geography; Arts (Music, Fine Arts); Local Education Content; Experiential Activities and Career Orientation.
- General themes integrated from grades 6 to 9: educating on the spirit of solidarity and patriotism of the Vietnamese nation in building and defending the country through historical periods; protecting sea and island sovereignty; protecting national sovereignty, territory, and borders; the rights and responsibilities of citizens concerning the cause of constructing and defending the Fatherland; introducing some historical events of resistance against foreign invaders; some contents on protecting personal information when participating in social networks; introducing some contents on preventing and combating social evils related to students; the State's policies on beliefs and religions.
- Themes integrated by class
+ Grade 6: introducing the history and tradition of the Vietnam People's Army and the People's Public Security of Vietnam; historical sites associated with the national struggles against foreign invaders; the strategic and creative tactics of our army and people in the wars against foreign invaders.
+ Grade 7: introducing activities and images protecting Vietnam's sea and island sovereignty; some content on protecting personal information when participating in social networks; the right to freedom of belief and religion according to legal provisions.
+ Grade 8: educating on national pride, self-esteem, and the strength of national unity in struggles against foreign invaders; introducing some national border milestones; the impact of social evils on every aspect of social life; the responsibility of students in participating in school violence prevention and control.
+ Grade 9: The consequences of invasion wars for the Vietnamese nation; some images of socio-economic development and national defense and security assurance; introducing some songs praising the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People's Army and People's Public Security; the responsibility of students in participating in building and defending the Fatherland.
Thus, at each educational level and grade, there will be different integrated contents. Generally, the integrated content aims to guide students towards love for the country, love for people, and building and developing the nation, cultivating morality, and staying away from social evils to become useful citizens for society.
