Conduct of upper secondary school teachers in Vietnam
Pursuant to Article 6 of the Code of Conduct in Preschools, General and Continuing Education Institutions issued together with Circular 06/2019/TT-BGDDT, the conduct of upper secondary school teachers is as follows:
- Conduct with learners: Use standard and comprehensible language, offer praise or criticism appropriate to the audience and context; be exemplary, tolerant, responsible, loving; respect differences, treat fairly, counsel, listen, encourage, and motivate learners; actively prevent and combat school violence, and create a safe, healthy, and friendly educational environment. Do not insult, cause harm, profit, victimize, hold prejudices, abuse, or exploit; do not be indifferent, avoid, or cover up violations by learners.
- Conduct with administrators: Use respectful, honest, receptive language, provide positive advice and express clear opinions; comply with the instructions, management, and assignment from leaders as per the regulations. Do not insult, cause division; do not be indifferent, avoid, or cover up violations by administrators.
- Conduct with colleagues and staff: Use proper, honest, friendly, and receptive language, share, and support; respect differences; protect the reputation, honor, and dignity of colleagues and staff. Do not insult, be indifferent, or cause division.
- Conduct with parents of learners: Use proper, honest, respectful, friendly, cooperative, and sharing language. Do not insult, impose, or profit.
- Conduct with visitors to educational institutions: Use proper and respectful language. Do not insult, cause difficulties, or create inconvenience.

Prohibited actions for upper secondary school teachers in Vietnam
Pursuant to Clause 1, Article 31 of the Charter of Secondary Schools, Upper Secondary Schools, and Schools with Multiple Educational Levels issued together with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, upper secondary school teachers are prohibited from the following actions:
- Acts that violate the honor, dignity, and bodily integrity of students and colleagues.
- Fraudulent acts: cheating in exams, tests, admissions; cheating in evaluating the learning and training results of students; skipping classes, leaving teaching sessions, arbitrarily cutting content from teaching and education.
- Distorting the content of teaching, education; teaching incorrect content, contrary to the viewpoints and educational policies of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the State of Vietnam.
- Forcing students to take additional classes for money; exploiting donations and support for education to compel financial or material contributions.
- Smoking, drinking alcohol, and using other stimulants while participating in teaching and educational activities.
- Obstructing and causing difficulties in supporting, serving teaching, education of students, and other tasks.
What are the duties of upper secondary school teachers in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 27 of the Charter of Secondary Schools, upper secondary schools, and Schools with Multiple Educational Levels issued together with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT the duties of upper secondary school teachers are as follows:
- Implement tasks to organize teaching and educational activities according to the school's educational plans and the subject group's educational plans; manage students in educational activities organized by the school; participate in professional activities; be responsible for the quality and effectiveness of education.
- Cultivate ethics, uphold responsibility, maintain the qualities, honor, and reputation of educators; be a role model for students; love, treat fairly, and respect the personality of students; protect the legitimate rights and interests of students; unite and support colleagues.
- Study and train to improve health, political levels, professionalism, and renew teaching methods and education.
- Participate in professional and professional training.
- Participate in secondary education universalization in the locality.
- Fulfill civic duties, legal regulations, and regulations of the Education sector, decisions of the principal; fulfill tasks assigned by the principal, and be subject to inspection, evaluation by the principal and educational management levels.
- Coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Vietnam Youth Union, students' families, and related social organizations to organize educational activities.
- Perform other duties as prescribed by law.
