What are the objectives of 6th-grade Technology in Vietnam?

Under Subsection 3, Section 3 of the General Education Program for Technology issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the objectives of Technology at the lower secondary level are as follows:

- Continue to develop the technological abilities that students have accumulated at the primary level.

- By the end of lower secondary school, students:

+ Can read technical specifications, recognize and properly use some household technology products;

+ Can communicate information about products, technological processes through making and reading simple technical drawings; evaluate and design simple technology products;

+ Have an understanding of basic principles and initial skills in agriculture - forestry, fisheries, and industry sectors;

+ Possess knowledge and experience in career selection in the technology field, contributing to determining an appropriate path after junior high school; fostering interest in learning; cultivating carefulness and perseverance in technical and technology practices.

What are the specific competencies required for 6th-grade students in Technology in Vietnam?

According to Subsection 2, Section 4 of the General Education Program for the Technology Subject issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the specific competencies required for 6th-grade students in Technology in Vietnam are as follows:

(1) Technology Awareness

- Describe some technological products and their impact on family life.

- Recognize basic content about roles, technical processes, and technologies, as well as related careers in major production sectors like agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and industry.

- Understand core content about career and career selection in technical and technology fields.

- Summarize basic knowledge and skills of certain technological processes with compatibility with personal interests and abilities.

(2) Technological Communication

- Represent objects or design ideas with basic drawing representations.

- Read drawings, symbols, and technological processes from major production fields.

(3) Technology Usage

- Read instructional materials for using common technological devices and products in the household.

- Use some common household technological products correctly and effectively.

- Detect and propose solutions to handle unsafe situations for people and technological products at home.
