07 poems about schools
Poem 1: The First Day of School
Author: Nguyen Bui Voi
The early autumn morning is clear and blue
I wear new clothes
To welcome the first day of school
Happy as if going to a festival
Meet friends, smile cheerfully
One clasps hands in greeting
Another hugs shoulders
Backpacks playfully on the back
Look at the teachers
Everyone seems young again
Schoolyard with new golden sunlight
Flags flying as if cheering
Groups measuring against each other
Seeing how everyone has grown
Last year was tiny
Now they've reached grade four
The school drum sounds loudly
The new school year has come
We walk into class
Scarves fluttering bright red
Poem 2: A Farewell to First Grade
Author: Huu Tuong
First Grade! First Grade!
Welcoming me last year
Now it's time to say farewell
Send greetings onward!
Goodbye, blackboard and windows
Goodbye, familiar seat
All of it, stay behind
Welcome little ones coming up
Goodbye, dear teacher
You'll be far from us...
But we'll follow your teachings
And you'll be with us always.
First Grade! First Grade!
Welcoming me last year
Now it's time to say farewell
Send greetings onward!
Poem 3: The Village School
Author: Thanh Tinh
My village school stands near the communal house
An attractive little school with three classes
In front of the school are large peach trees
That often draw my affection.
My school faces the river
While the back faces the fields
My teacher often asks for directions that way
I respectfully respond: Yes, the East.
My teacher is slender and tall
With sparkling eyes and ruddy cheeks
Hair slightly curly, chin slightly pointed
Smile often mixed with a harsh voice.
After three years at village school
I feel my mind has expanded
I know about cows: ruminant animals
And believe the world is wide and vast.
This year leaving the village school
I feel a heavy heart
Those autumn mornings with gloomy mist
The school drum echoes beyond the dyke.
Poem 4: I Draw My School
Author: Nguyen Lam Thang
My school
With bright red tiles
Each small window
Looking out to the horizon
Charming school
Standing by the mountainside
A stream
Winding past the school gate
Dear school
With shady trees
The national flag
Waving in the thousand winds
Stately school
With teachers, with friends
I sit and admire
My school.
Poem 5: My School's Drum
Author: Thanh Hao
My school's drum
Also rests during summer
For three months in a row
The drum lies contemplating.
Are you bored, drum,
During summer days
We're all away
Only cicadas are left?
The drum remains silent
Leaning its head on the rack
Surely seeing us
It's overjoyed.
Look, the drum is calling:
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Into the new school year
Its voice rings jubilantly.
Poem 6: My Schoolyard
Author: Bui Hoang Tam
In class, the blackboard
Dreams of white chalk
Only the sound of leaves
Whispering with sunlight.
But soon, in the morning
The school opening day will come
The schoolyard will overflow
With fluttering joy.
Meeting dear teachers
Meeting cherished friends
There is so much, so much
To say.
The school drum invites
Teachers await eagerly
We enter the new class
The schoolyard turns into a poetic page…
Poem 7: The Usual School
Author: Nguyen Nhat Anh
I return at noon
The usual school
Hearing in the sunshine's shadow
Spring whispers:
Hey, short-haired girl
Who's the handsome one
For the glasses to sigh
Out of the blue?
Hey, braided girl
Sweet sixteen
Boys with pimples
What about girls?
Who's the mouse-faced
Nibbling on popcorn
Sneaking jackfruit seeds
Hidden in the den?
A deer with eyes
So called “deer eyes”
A pepper with seeds
Do lips have mustache?
Don't ask in spring
My friends are many
Just not told everything
That's not all!
