Code of Conduct for Preschool Teachers in Vietnam

Based on Article 6 of the Code of Conduct in preschool, general, and continuing education institutions attached to Circular 06/2019/TT-BGDDT, the conduct rules for preschool teachers are as follows:

- Interaction with learners: Use standard, easily understood language, appropriately praise or criticize based on audience and context; be exemplary, tolerant, responsible, and loving; respect differences, treat fairly, offer counsel, listen, and encourage; actively prevent school violence, build a safe, healthy, and friendly educational environment.

Do not offend, harm, exploit; do not suppress, be prejudiced, abuse, or violate; do not be indifferent, avoid, or cover up learners' violations.

- Interaction with management officials: Use respectful, honest, solicitation language, actively consult, and express clear viewpoints; comply with leaders' directives, management, and assignments as prescribed. Do not offend, disrupt unity; do not be indifferent, avoid, or cover up management officials' violations.

- Interaction with colleagues and staff: Use appropriate, honest, friendly, solicitation language, sharing and supporting; respect differences; protect the reputation, honor, and dignity of colleagues and staff. Do not offend, be indifferent, disrupt unity.

- Interaction with learners' parents: Use appropriate, honest, respectful, friendly, cooperative, and sharing language. Do not offend, impose, exploit.

- Interaction with visitors to the educational institution: Use appropriate, respectful language. Do not offend, cause difficulties, or annoy.

What are the common codes of conduct in preschools in Vietnam?

Based on Article 4 of the Code of Conduct in preschool, general, and continuing education institutions attached to Circular 06/2019/TT-BGDDT, the common conduct rules in preschools are as follows:

- Strictly observe the legal provisions on the rights and obligations of citizens, officials and public employees, teachers, workers, and learners.

- Promote a healthy, active lifestyle, caring, sharing, and helping others.

- Protect and preserve the educational institution's landscape; build a safe, friendly, green, clean, and beautiful educational environment.

- Management officials and teachers must wear polite and appropriate attire for the educational environment and activities; employees must wear attire suitable for the educational environment and their job nature; learners must wear clean, tidy attire appropriate to their age and educational activities; learners' parents and visitors to the school must wear attire suitable for the educational environment.

- Do not wear inappropriate clothing.

- Do not smoke, consume alcohol, or use prohibited substances in educational institutions as prescribed by law; do not engage in social vices.

- Do not use social media to disseminate, propagate, or comment on information or images contrary to traditional customs, the Communist Party's guidelines, the State's policies, or negatively affecting the educational environment.

- Do not cheat, deceive, slander, incite hostility, harass, coerce, threaten, or use violence against others.

- Do not harm the health, honor, dignity of oneself, others, and the collective's reputation.

What are the actions that preschool teachers in Vietnam are prohibited from doing?

Based on Article 31 of the Charter for Preschools attached to Circular 52/2020/TT-BGDDT, the behaviors, conduct, and attire of preschool teachers and staff are as follows:

Behavior, Conduct, and Attire of Teachers and Staff

  1. The behavior and conduct of teachers and staff shall comply with the regulations of the education sector and the law. Teachers and staff shall not do the following:

a) Offend the honor, dignity, or infringe the bodily integrity of children and colleagues;

b) Treat children unfairly;

c) Distort educational content;

d) Skip classes or teaching sessions; arbitrarily cut parts of the nurture, care, and education programs for children;

dd) Engage in personal activities during the organization of nurture, care, and education activities for children.

e) Smoke, drink alcohol, and use other stimulants during the participation in nurturing, caring, and educating children.

  1. The attire of teachers and staff must be appropriate and meet the requirements of nurturing, caring, educating children, and the requirements of office attire.

Hence, preschool teachers are prohibited from:

- Having behaviors that offend the honor, dignity, or infringe the bodily integrity of children and colleagues;

- Distorting educational content;

- Skipping classes or teaching sessions; arbitrarily cutting parts of the nurture, care, and education programs for children;

- Engaging in personal activities during the organization of nurture, care, and education activities for children.

- Smoking, drinking alcohol, and using other stimulants during the participation in nurturing, caring, and educating children.
