When did the Viet Bac Campaign in autumn-winter, 1947 take place?

Under Subsection 2, Section 1 of the Propaganda Outline commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of the All-People's National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024) issued together with Guidance 160-HD/BTGTW in 2024 on the Viet Bac Campaign in autumn-winter, 1947:

VIETNAM PEOPLE’S ARMY - 80 YEARS OF BUILDING, FIGHTING, VICTORY, AND MATURITY

...

2. Vietnam People's Army during the resistance war against the French colonialists (1945 - 1954)

...

In Autumn-Winter of 1947, the French colonialists mobilized over 10,000 elite troops supported by aircraft and warships to launch a surprise attack on Viet Bac to annihilate our resistance headquarters and main forces. After more than two months of launching a counteroffensive campaign (from October 7 - December 20, 1947), we eliminated over 7,000 enemy soldiers from the battlefield. This was the first large-scale counteroffensive campaign achieving a strategically significant victory for our army and people; defeating a large-scale attack and thwarting the French colonialists' “quick fight, quick victory” strategy; preserving and developing our main forces, and safeguarding the central headquarters and the entire country’s base area.

After the Viet Bac Campaign in 1947, our Army had matured significantly but was still not capable of launching major campaigns. To defeat the enemy’s pacification strategy, we advocated widespread guerrilla warfare and implemented “independent companies, concentrated battalions,” both enhancing guerrilla warfare and learning concentrated maneuver combat. The concentrated battalions were strengthened and gradually advanced to larger ambushes and raids. From early 1948 to mid-1950, our troops launched over 20 small campaigns across the battlefields. The extent of concentration for each campaign ranged from 3 to 5 battalions, eventually increasing to 2 to 3 regiments, with some campaigns employing even field artillery and heavy anti-aircraft equipment. In many battles, our forces destroyed entire enemy companies and battalions outside fortifications and captured strongpoints guarded by about one enemy company.

...

Thus, the Viet Bac Campaign in autumn-winter, 1947 took place from October 7, 1947, to December 20, 1947.

Over 75 days and nights of fighting, we eliminated over 7,000 enemy soldiers from the battlefield.

This was the first large-scale counteroffensive campaign that achieved a strategically significant victory for our army and people. Our army and people defeated a large-scale attack and thwarted the French colonialists' “quick fight, quick victory” strategy, preserved and developed our main forces, and safeguarded the central headquarters and the entire country’s base area.
