How many weeks does the 2024-2025 school year in Vietnam last?

Under Article 2 of Decision No. 2045/QD-BGDDT in 2024, the regulations are as follows:

Principles for developing the school year plan of localities

1. The school year plan of localities must ensure a total of 35 real study weeks (18 weeks in the first semester, 17 weeks in the second semester).

2. The school year plan must be appropriate to the characteristics and practical conditions of the locality.

3. Public holidays and festivals shall follow the provisions of the Labor Code and annual guiding documents.

4. Annual leave for teachers is implemented during the summer break or may be arranged intermittently during the year to suit specific characteristics and the school year plan of the locality.

5. The school year plan needs to ensure synchronization across levels of education within a residential area, especially in schools with multiple levels of education.

Thus, in the 2024-2025 school year, students must undergo 35 weeks of real study, with the first semester having 18 weeks and the second semester having 17 weeks.

What are the regulations on the responsibilities for implementing the time frame for the 2024-2025 school year in Vietnam?

According to Article 3 of Decision No. 2045/QD-BGDDT in 2024, the responsibilities for implementing the time frame for the 2024-2025 school year in Vietnam are as follows:

- The Chairman of the People's Committee of the province or municipality decides:

+ The school year plan for preschool, general education, and continuing education is suitable to the actual conditions of the locality.

+ Early school start times and extension of the school year shall be no more than 15 days compared to regulations to ensure the completion of the preschool, general education, and continuing education programs in case of disasters or epidemics; for special arising cases, report to the Ministry of Education and Training before implementation.

- Director of the Department of Education and Training shall:

+ Decide on letting students off from school due to severe weather conditions, natural disasters, and arrange make-up classes; ensure teachers' leave time during the school year.

+ Report to the Ministry of Education and Training on:

++ The preparation for the school year and the organization of the school opening for the year 2024-2025 before September 10, 2024;

++ Summarize the implementation of tasks, key solutions for the 2024-2025 school year and results of emulation criteria, and propose rewards before June 25, 2025.
