What are the ages of lower secondary school students in in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam?
Based on Clause 1, Article 28 of the Education Law 2019 :
Levels of education and age of students in general education
1. The levels of education and age of students in general education are stipulated as follows:
a) Primary education lasts 05 years, from Grade 1 to the end of Grade 5. Students entering Grade 1 are 06 years old and this age is calculated according to the year;
b) Lower secondary education lasts 04 years, from Grade 6 to the end of Grade 9. Students entering Grade 6 must complete the primary education program. The age of students entering Grade 6 is 11 years old, calculated according to the year;
c) Upper secondary school education lasts 03 years, from Grade 10 to the end of Grade 12. Students entering Grade 10 must have a secondary school diploma. The age of students entering Grade 10 is 15 years old, calculated according to the year.

Thus, according to the above regulations, Grade 6 students in Ho Chi Minh City will be 11 years old and typically, the age of secondary school students ranges from 11 - 14 years old.
Note: Except in cases of extended study duration due to grade repetition or other cases as prescribed by law.
How are lower secondary school students' training results assessed?
According to Article 8 of Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDDT secondary school students’ training results are assessed as follows:
- The training results of students in each semester and the entire school year
The training results of students in each semester and the entire school year are assessed according to one of the four levels: Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Not Satisfactory.
* Training results of students in each semester
- Excellent: Meets the required qualities prescribed in the General Education Program with many outstanding expressions.
- Good: Meets the required qualities prescribed in the General Education Program with some notable expressions but does not reach the level of Excellent.
- Satisfactory: Meets the required qualities prescribed in the General Education Program.
- Not Satisfactory: Does not meet the required qualities prescribed in the General Education Program.
* Training results of students for the whole school year
- Excellent: the second semester is rated Excellent, the first semester is rated Good or Upper secondaryer.
- Good: the second semester is rated Good, the first semester is rated Satisfactory or Upper secondaryer; the second semester is rated Satisfactory, the first semester is rated Excellent; the second semester is rated Excellent, the first semester is rated Satisfactory or Not Satisfactory.
- Satisfactory: the second semester is rated Satisfactory, the first semester is rated Good, Satisfactory, or Not Satisfactory; the second semester is rated Good, the first semester is rated Not Satisfactory.
- Not Satisfactory: Other cases.
