Can graduates of the continuing education program in Vietnam take the 10th-grade entrance exam?
Based on Article 5 of the Regulation on Secondary School and High School Admissions issued together with Circular 11/2014/TT-BGDDT, the eligibility criteria for the 10th-grade entrance exam are as follows:
Eligible candidates are those who have graduated from a secondary school education program or a continuing education program at 15 years old, except for cases of skipping classes at the previous education level or students entering school at an older age than the regulated age.
High school admissions are organized in one of three methods:
- Examination of records: based on the results of training and studying during the four years of secondary school, if the student repeated a class, the results of that repeated year will be considered;
- Entrance exam;
- Combination of entrance exam and record examination.
Thus, it can be seen that students who have graduated from the continuing education program at the age of 15, except for cases of skipping classes at the previous education level or students entering school at an older age than the regulated age, can take the 10th-grade entrance exam.

- Students use these documents to enroll in high schools, vocational centers/continuing centers, vocational education institutions if eligible for admission.
- During the admission process, students who have submitted their admission documents are entitled to withdraw their documents (if desired); schools facilitate students to withdraw documents and delete names from the list of admitted students while performing the operation to cancel the admission confirmation on the education database system.
In cases where students have been admitted and confirmed enrollment but wish to transfer to another province or city to study, the school will process the transfer, not deleting the students’ names from the list of admitted students.
Thus, by comparing the admission documents of the previous year, similar documents can be prepared for confirmation of admission into 10th grade in Hanoi for the 2025-2026 school year.
