Under section 5 of the General education program in Literature issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the required outcomes regarding writing practice for 2nd-grade students in Vietnam are as follows:

- Be able to write 4 - 5 sentences recounting an event they have witnessed or participated in based on suggestions.

- Be able to write 4 - 5 sentences describing a familiar, close object based on suggestions.

- Be able to write 4 - 5 sentences expressing their feelings towards a loved one or an event based on suggestions.

- Be able to write 4 - 5 sentences introducing a familiar object based on suggestions.

- Know how to name a picture.

- Be able to write schedules, postcards, messages, thank-you notes, and apologies.

What are the objectives of teaching the 2nd-grade Vietnamese language subject?

According to subsection 2, Section 3 of the General Education Program for the Vietnamese subject as stipulated in Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the objectives of teaching the 2nd-grade Vietnamese language subject are as follows:

- Help students develop key qualities with specific expressions: love for nature, family, and homeland; awareness of origins; appreciation for beauty, goodness, and healthy emotions; enthusiasm for learning and a love for labor; honesty and straightforwardness in learning and life; awareness of responsibilities towards oneself, family, society, and the environment.

- Assist students in initially forming general skills and developing language proficiency in all basic skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening; ensure they read texts correctly and fluently; understand the content and main information of texts; relate and compare beyond the text; write correctly regarding spelling and grammar; write a few sentences, short paragraphs, and essays (mainly narrative and descriptive pieces); articulate clearly; and understand the speaker's opinions.

Develop literary competence requires students to distinguish between poetry and stories, understand how to read poetry and stories, recognize the beauty of artistic words, use imagination, and appreciate the beauty and goodness of humanity and the world as expressed in literary texts.
