WRITING

WRITING TECHNIQUE

- Proficiently write in regular handwriting, correctly write uppercase letters.

- Use uppercase for the first letter of a sentence, and correctly write names of people and geographical places commonly used in the local area.

- Listen and transcribe a poem or prose passage about 50 - 55 words long at a speed of about 50 - 55 words in 15 minutes. Write correctly some words commonly misspelled due to local pronunciation features.

- Present a clean and organized piece of writing.

WRITING A SHORT PARAGRAPH

Writing process

- Determine content by answering the question: “What to write about?”; draft; based on the teacher's support, correct sentence-ending punctuation, capitalization, and word usage errors.

Practice writing

- Write 4-5 sentences recounting an event witnessed or participated in based on suggestions.

- Write 4-5 sentences describing a familiar, close object under suggestions.

- Write 4-5 sentences about your feelings towards a family member or event based on suggestions.

- Write 4-5 sentences introducing a familiar object based on suggestions.

- Know how to title a picture.

- Know how to write a schedule, postcard, message, thank you note, apology note.

- Read correctly, fluently, and expressively; understand the main content of texts, primarily explicit content; begin to understand implicit content like themes and lessons learned from the texts read.

- Reading requirements include both technical reading and reading comprehension skills, focusing on reading correctly at an appropriate speed and understanding the simple content of texts.

- Write correctly in spelling, vocabulary, and grammar; compose some sentences and short paragraphs.

- Write narratives about stories read, events witnessed or participated in, stories imagined by students; describe familiar objects and phenomena; introduce objects and activities close to students' lives.

Write paragraphs expressing students' emotions and thoughts when reading a story or poem, witnessing an event that evokes emotions; state opinions on a simple issue in study and life; compose various text types such as: self-introduction, messages, invitations, schedules, applications, etc.; begin to write using a process; compositions should have three parts (introduction, body, conclusion).

- Clearly present ideas and feelings; begin to use appropriate gestures and expressions when speaking; clearly recount stories read or heard; know how to share and exchange emotions, attitudes, thoughts about discussed issues; know how to explain a subject or simple process.

- Listen with an appropriate attitude and grasp the basic content; recognize the emotions of the speaker; know how to respond to what is heard.

* Literary competencies

- Differentiate between narrative and poetry (prose and verse); recognize the content of texts and the attitude and feelings of the writer; begin to understand the function of some formal elements of literary texts (language, characters, plot, rhymed verse, metaphor, personification). Know how to use imagination and literary expression in writing and speaking.

- Identify whom or what the text is about; recognize characters in stories, rhymes in poems; distinguish between stories and poetry.
