“Au o … Dear child, sleep well…” The lullaby sung by grandmothers for mothers, mothers for children, from generation to generation, is still so touching and poignant! Mothers love their children from lullabies to words of affection, scolds, and in every gentle embrace...

Like many other farmers from impoverished rural areas, my mother is a simple and honest rural woman. She carries the traditional Eastern beauty, with a balanced figure, an oval face that is pleasant to look at, and skin that is no longer smooth from weathering. My mother's gentleness and calm have seeped into her speech, her walk, and her interactions with people and life.

My mother always carries the beliefs of farmers from impoverished areas: as long as her children study hard and do well, she can bear any hardship and suffering. These people, whose dreams and education were cut short by life's hardships, have placed their dreams and happiness in their children's journey to school. But back then, I didn’t understand that…

Since I became aware of letters and learning, my mother always reminded me to study, strive to learn, and excel. Even though our family's circumstances were less fortunate compared to my peers, my mother never let me do her hard, laborious work. My only task was to study, study, and study. But seeing my mother work tirelessly from dawn to late at night, collecting scrap materials, I could not stand it. I often helped her sort the scrap she brought home. My mother didn’t agree, but as I promised I had finished my homework and still dove into the scrap pile, she had no choice.

That night, I saw her coming home later than usual. I hadn’t finished my test for the day, but seeing her return, I rushed out to greet her. “There will be a lot of work today. So much, how can I let her do it alone?” - I thought so and was determined to help her. I assured my mother I had completed my schoolwork, so she could let me help her. Yet, we finished the work only near midnight; I wondered how long it would take her alone.

My achievements were always good, placing me among the top of the class. But the night before, I didn’t do my homework. As a result, I received my first zero throughout my school years. “What should I do now; if she finds out…”, I dared not imagine the consequences. I wasn't scared of being scolded or beaten but feared her sadness. But at home, I saw her there, silently. She knew already. Worrying and fearing, I couldn’t take it, and all I could say was, “I’m sorry”.

She cried because it was her that affected my studies. She hadn’t fulfilled her role as a mother. She…

Finally, she spoke. Yes, it was her fault. She hadn’t let me express my love for her, so I had to lie to do so. She gave all her love to me, but not in the right way; she didn’t understand me. Thus, both she and I were wrong.

And my mother and I cried. Those tears marked the beginning of new joys and love. Outside, the new golden rays of sunshine were so radiant.

In life, no one loves us unconditionally more than a mother. She is always by our side, protecting and sacrificing for us from the smallest things. The image of my mother is forever etched in my heart with all the love and respect.

My mother is over 40 this year, but her shoulders always bear the burdens of the family. Her physique is petite and somewhat slender, marked by the traces of years of hardship. My mother's face is gentle, her skin tanned by sun and wind, but her eyes always shine with kindness and love. Whenever I face difficulties or sadness, that gaze gives me strength and faith to overcome everything.

Mother’s hair is now dotted with a few strands of gray, but she never complains. Her slender hands, with apparent blue veins and calloused from years of work, have cared for me since childhood, always deftly preparing delicious and warm meals.

Mother not only excels in household chores but also is a great emotional support for me. Whenever I make mistakes, she doesn’t scold but gently advises, teaching me to live truthfully and love everyone. She often tells me stories from her childhood, imparting lessons on sacrifice and gratitude.

I will always remember the times she stayed up late knitting sweaters for me when winter was near, or the evenings she sat with me, helping me study even when she was very tired. Her love and sacrifice are like a river always flowing, silently nurturing my life with fullness and meaning.

To me, my mother is not only my birthgiver but also my first and most important teacher in life. I remind myself to study hard, to be a good child, to repay some of my mother’s sacrifices. Mother - the most wonderful woman, always the guiding light in my journey to maturity.

“A father's merits are as high as Mount Tai,

A mother's love as endless as water from the source.”

Every time I hear this folk song somewhere, my heart stirs with memories of my beloved mother. My mother endured much pain and hardship to give birth to me. She devoted her entire life to caring for me, watching over every step of my growth. To me, my mother's image is the most beautiful and sacred.

This year, my mother has turned 40. Yet, she still looks very youthful. In every important moment in life, whether happy or sad, I always think of my mother's figure. Her slender build, white skin marked with wrinkles. She is a young, dynamic, enthusiastic woman, yet behind that fresh appearance is immense sacrifice for my upbringing. For this reason, her hands are calloused and bony. Still, I yearn to be embraced and comforted in those warm hands. Perhaps, it's because those hands have endured so much hardship because of me? My mother's hardships are also evident in the wrinkles, crow’s feet on her face. Her oval face with a high forehead and horizontal eyebrows adds a unique elegance to her. My mother has big black dove eyes, reflecting kindheartedness and affection. But when I disobey her, those eyes become inexplicably sad. Her straight, high nose complements her distinct beauty greatly. The most impressive feature of my mother’s face is her smile. Her radiant smile is special thanks to her small mouth, heart-shaped lips, and even white teeth. That smile is like the morning sun, warm, friendly, harmonious, and full of love. Whenever I'm sad, just looking at her encouraging smile rekindles my motivation. Sometimes, that smile fades away, replaced by tears. At those times, she looks like a flower wilting, peculiarly sad...! Thus, I always vow to study diligently, to keep that smile on her face forever.

Being a woman of the family, my mother is both gentle and very strict. She stays up late and wakes up early to care for the family’s meals and sleep. Every morning, I feel truly happy when enjoying the meals she cooks. She quickly stirs the food in the pan. She seasons, tastes carefully, then serves it to me in bowls and plates. I was a picky eater before. She always made me finish my meal. Now I understand, she just wanted me to be healthy. She often instructs, guides me in my studies.

Perhaps, everyone cherishes their mother the most. The person who devoted a lifetime of sacrifice for her children. Hence, whether in the past or present, people always praise the sacredness of maternal love. I also love, cherish my mother dearly, and am proud to be her child.

In the last days of the year, people often express warm gratitude to those who have helped them in the past year. I am no different. And the person I respect and love the most, want to extend the most thanks to, is none other than my mother.

My mother is quite an ordinary woman, like many women in the countryside. She isn't tall, just about 145 cm. After giving birth to three children, she is somewhat plump, not as slender as in her wedding photo. But in my eyes, she is still beautiful, with a special kind of beauty. Her skin is quite fair. Not pale, but rosy, vibrant with life. My mother has a round face. Her forehead is a bit short, with a few wispy strands of bangs hanging down. Below are her big, round, jet-black eyes that often twinkle like two precious pearls. My mother's eyebrows are quite light, only when she goes out does she use a pencil to define them. My mother's nose is rather low, quite large and wide. I also have a nose like that, and I love it very much. Because it attests to the bond between my mother and me. Right below, her mouth is quite small, both lips slightly thin. When she smiles, two cute small dimples appear on both sides. They add charm to her smile. My mother’s hair is very thick and plentiful but rough like bamboo roots. She said it has been that way since she was young. As a result, she needs to straighten her hair twice a year. She generally cuts it to a little below her shoulders rather than letting it grow longer.

My mother sells groceries for a living. Many small, trivial items are neatly and tidily arranged by her. Everything she remembers the price very well, never forgetting or confusing it. Every expense and income she meticulously records in a ledger larger than my textbook. Every night, after everything is done, she pulls out the ledger to calculate and mumble numbers like a mathematician. Besides selling groceries, my mother recently started selling on Shopee. My aunt taught her how to open a shop on the app and sell goods. Hence, she takes time to pack and ship products for additional sales there. Together with selling, she manages the household single-handedly. From cleaning, shopping, cooking… she takes care of everything. Yet, she still manages to grow vegetables and raise a flock of chickens. Hence, my family rarely needs to go to the market. And my house is always kept clean and tidy. I also spare time to help her, like handling small tasks: washing clothes, sweeping, mopping, doing dishes... At those moments, I am very happy to relieve some burden for her.

As we step into the new year, I wish for my mother to always be healthy, happy, and joyful. Whether it’s the coming year or many years to come, she will forever remain the most wonderful woman in my heart.
Sample No. 5

If asked who I cherish the most, it would undoubtedly be my mother. She gave me precious life and nurtured me from a young age. Mother is like the midnight moon soothing me into peaceful sleeps. In my mind and heart, the image of my mother is always deeply engraved.

My mother is over thirty, but she looks older due to her background from a poor rural village and working in the fields, feet stained with earth and hands roughened by labor. Her slight, slender figure in the field is like a tiny dot. When battling strong winds on her bicycle, she is like a fragile leaf. At those times, her back bends to weather the storms, both from nature and life itself. My mother has an angular face with high cheekbones and some freckles. Her skin is brown, absorbing the toil under the sun and rain.

The most prominent feature on her face is the pair of black dove eyes under long, curved eyelashes, holding immense love for her children. Those kind eyes watch as we sleep peacefully, eat heartily, and play joyfully. They turn stern when we misbehave or disobey. There are times when they are tired, with dark circles from sleepless nights. Yet, love and tenderness never stop existing in that world. Every time she smiles, crow’s feet appear around her eyes, youthful yet poignant. Her hair is dry, reaching down to her shoulders. Sometimes she doesn't even have time to take care of it, only hastily tying it up to start working. On evenings spent with her, I’ve noticed some gray strands. She laughs and says, “I'll dye it once too much turns gray”.

Her voice is somewhat hoarse but warm. My mother’s singing voice is also captivating but rarely shown, and life's struggles have taken away her passions. It's rare for me to hear her hum folk songs, the lullabies she’s raised us with. Her hands are thin, with bony and rough fingers. But those hands have calmed me when I couldn’t sleep, cooked delicious meals, and planted countless fields... Those hands deserve to be a monument of love.

How wonderful it is to be my mother’s child. In my heart, my mother is the best. Nothing challenges her. As long as she's by my side, I feel immense strength to overcome any difficulty. I wish for her to always be healthy, happy, and full of life. To be with me for a very, very long time.
Sample No. 6

In everyone's heart, there always exists an ideal and beautiful shape. To me, the most beautiful, talented, and wonderful woman is my mother.

My mother is an ordinary orchard farmer in a small rural village. She turns forty this year. However, due to spending long periods working outdoors in harsh weather, she appears older than her age. Yet this doesn't diminish her beauty in my eyes. Mother is about 160 cm tall, slightly slim with healthy sun-kissed skin. She has visible veins on her hands and feet and cracks, the result of labor-intensive gardening. Her nails are always kept short for convenience. My mother has a slightly long, oval face, most striking are her deep black eyes that seem to see through one’s soul. Every time she gazes intently at me, I feel like the center of the world.

My mother's everyday outfit at home is typically brightly patterned suits - a common style among rural women. When working in the garden, she wears green protective clothing, boots, gloves, and a hat. My mother has never gone for a hairdo, but her hair remains shiny and smooth, coveted by many.

Everyone in the village praises and loves my mother for her diligence and kindness. Year-round, she is never idle. Besides tending to a large orange grove, she raises chickens, ducks, fish, and grows a small vegetable garden. Thanks to that, our family rarely needs to shop at the market. And our house is always clean and tidy. I also spend time helping her with small tasks: doing laundry, sweeping, mopping, washing dishes… At those moments, I feel very happy to share her burden.

Every day, I wish to grow up quickly to help her more. So that she always stays healthy and happy.
