Letter to Those Who Litter, Harm the Ocean

To those who are hurting me!

I am the Ocean, an immense body of water that you often turn to whenever you want to relax and have fun. I am the place that provides breath for this planet, a home for millions of creatures, a lifeline for countless people. I was once deep blue, gentle, and forgiving. But now, I no longer recognize myself.

What have you done to me?

I have endured enough!

The waves that once caressed the sands are now flooded with waste. Waters that were once clear are now tainted with chemicals and oil spills. You have thrown countless plastic bottles, plastic bags, cans, and even dead animal carcasses into me. Do you know that every year, millions of tons of waste flood into me, turning me into a massive garbage dump? I am suffocating, exhausted because of what you carelessly discard.

My children, the gentle marine creatures, are suffering the consequences of such careless acts. Turtles caught in fishing nets, whales dying from swallowing plastic bags, vibrant coral reefs now reduced to mere gray patches. I once nurtured life, but now, I am becoming a graveyard for them.

Have you ever wondered: If I die, can you still survive?

You continue living on land, thinking that I am just an insentient body of water capable of enduring anything you throw at me. But you forget: I am the breath of the Earth. Half of the oxygen you breathe every day is produced by me. If I am destroyed, the atmosphere will no longer be pure. If I am poisoned, you too will suffer the consequences.

My contaminated waters will wash ashore, infiltrating the water you drink. The fish you eat every day have bellies full of plastic waste. Stronger storms, more intensive tsunamis—these are the warnings I give to you.

I cannot endure any longer!

But I still believe that it is not too late. I am giving you a chance to make amends. Stop this destruction now! Don’t throw trash into the sea anymore! Use less plastic, recycle instead of discarding. Think of the creatures struggling desperately beneath me. Remember, I am your lifeline, your companion on this planet's journey.

If you continue to ignore me, the day I truly rage will leave you without a chance to save us both!

Awake before it’s too late!

The Ocean.

Letter to Future Generations

To you, child of the future!

Hello there!

I am the Ocean—vast waters you love to gaze at during sunset, where you run barefoot on the sand to meet the waves crashing ashore. Do you hear my song in every wave? See fish jumping on the surface as if playing? I was once such a wondrous world.

But perhaps, when you grow up, I will no longer be as you see me today...

I am gradually changing. Not for the better, but in a way that brings me sorrow.

Adults have unintentionally hurt me. They discard garbage into me, throw plastic bottles, bags, leftovers, and all types of waste. Small fish swallow plastic and never swim again. Turtles trapped in massive nets. Coral reefs, once vibrant in all colors, now mere gray masses, dying over time.

My water is no longer as clear as before. Oil spills and chemicals from factories choke me. Do you know? Half of the oxygen you breathe each day comes from me. If I am no longer healthy, the atmosphere where you live will change. Do you wish for a world where the sea is just polluted water with no life?

I do not want that to happen. And I believe you don’t either.

You are my hope, this planet's hope. Can you do something to help me?

You can pick up plastic bags on the beach and throw them in the trash. Remind everyone not to litter. Use less plastic, recycle what can be recycled, protect the small creatures living within me.

I believe you can do it.

One day, when you have grown, I hope you can see me as clear and vibrant as today. I hope you will stand by the sea, let the waves kiss your feet, listen to my song, see schools of fish swimming joyfully in a world filled with life.

So please, help me, won't you?

I am always here, waiting and hoping.

The Ocean.

Letter to Leaders and Governments

To the leaders of the Earth!

I am the Ocean—the source of life, the breath of this planet. I have existed for millions of years, nurturing billions of creatures and regulating the climate for humanity's development. I have never demanded anything from you. I quietly do my job, creating oxygen, sustaining life, providing abundant food and water.

But now, I am running dry. I am severely wounded.

Plastic waste is suffocating me every day. Every year, millions of tons of plastic flood into me, forming massive "garbage islands." My tiny creatures are dying, ingesting plastic waste. Whales, sea turtles, albatrosses… they are disappearing, and humans cannot escape the consequences. Microplastics infiltrate the food chain, the drinking water, human bodies. Look, the consequences are clearer than ever!

Please, do not throw waste into the sea, use less plastic! Implement stricter policies to reduce plastic waste, limit single-use plastic production, encourage recycling, and develop eco-friendly materials. Hold major corporations accountable for the waste they generate.

It’s not just plastic waste; I am being poisoned by industrial pollution and emissions. Chemicals from factories dump directly into my waters, poisoning creatures living in me and the humans dependent on me. Emissions from factories and vehicles increase temperatures, ice melts faster, sea levels rise, and storms become more violent.

Love me by using clean energy, plant more trees! Transition to renewable energy, reduce dependence on coal and fossil fuels. Invest in green technology, sustainable solutions instead of focusing on short-term profits. For if the Earth collapses, those profits will become meaningless.

It’s not just the environment being harmed but also the creatures living in me. Whales killed en masse, sharks finned and discarded, coral reefs destroyed for construction and overexploitation. My ecosystem is severely imbalanced. If you do not act now, terrible consequences will soon unfold: depleted fishery resources, extinct species, and humanity losing precious life support from me.

Don’t hunt whales, don’t destroy my ecosystem! Pass laws to protect endangered species. Prevent overfishing and uncontrolled exploitation. Protect marine sanctuaries, preserve remaining coral reefs before it's too late.

You are powerful. You can change everything. I cannot save myself without human help. I am calling on you, the ones holding the fate of this planet, to prioritize nature and future generations above all.

Act now before I can no longer protect you.

The Ocean.

Letter to Humanity

Hello everyone!

It’s me, the Ocean! Perhaps you've met me through endless beaches, rhythmic waves, or the stunning sunsets you love to photograph. I am also where you once soaked in cool waters, built sandcastles, or simply stood in silence, listening to the waves lap the shore. I was once turquoise, peaceful, and full of life.

But recently, I have something to tell you!

I feel... a little heavy. Not because I've gained weight, but because I'm "bearing" too much trash. Plastic bottles, plastic bags, soda cans, even bizarre items like toothbrushes, tires, plastic chairs—they all float inside me! Can you imagine being trapped in a jacket made of plastic? I wear it every day!

Moreover, I feel... suffocated. The air is getting hotter, my waters are rising, and my beautiful coral reefs are losing color. My friends—whales, sea turtles, dolphins—are in danger due to their shrinking habitats. I see them scared, lost, and it makes me profoundly sad.

But I still believe you can help me!

Please help lighten my load! Don't throw trash into the sea, use less plastic! Try carrying a reusable water bottle, use cloth bags instead of plastic ones, say "no" to single-use plastic items. Even a small action, if everyone does it, will make me much healthier!

Help me breathe easier! Do you know planting trees and using clean energy helps me too? As the climate stabilizes, I won't overheat, and the creatures living within me will not have to worry about their homes. Love me by using bicycles, reducing emissions, and protecting the environment!

Let me protect my friends! Don’t hunt whales, don’t destroy my ecosystem! I love all the creatures living in me, and they deserve to be as happy as humans. If you enjoy seafood, choose sustainably sourced products, and avoid consuming threatened species!

My wish is nothing more than to remain forever clear, to be the gentle cradle for waves, embracing schools of fish swimming joyfully. And I know, with your help, this can become reality.

So, see you on a sunny day at the beach!

With all my love,

The Ocean

Letter to Business Owners

To those who profit from my devastation!

Hello to you, powerful tycoons, those sitting in luxurious offices, signing million-dollar contracts, and running massive factories. I am the Ocean—yes, it's me, the vast body of water you exploit to dump waste and toxins while your wallets swell with cash.

Have you ever wondered: what if I no longer existed?

I am not just a colossal blue carpet for you to dump waste carelessly. I am the lifeblood for millions of creatures, the breath of this planet. I provide the oxygen for the air you breathe; I regulate the climate so Earth does not become parched and deadly. Yet, you treat me as a gigantic landfill, a place to discard the byproducts of factories you boast about.

Do you see the oil slicks spreading across my surface? That's your "signature." See those dead fish afloat, the coral reefs dying, marine creatures trapped in abandoned fishing nets? Those are the "byproducts" of the industries you pride.

Truthfully, do you ever think about tomorrow?

You may amass wealth, reside in opulent villas, walk on marble pathways, but when your future generations grow up, they will no longer see a vibrant ocean. They will find beaches clogged with trash, murky waters, creatures existing only in books. And they will ask: "What did our parents do to this world?"

But I still wish to give you a chance. I still believe that even those who have hurt me can change.

Profit responsibly! Don't just focus on short-term gains and forget the future. Invest in green technology, use environmentally friendly materials, and handle waste properly. You have the money and power to do it—it's just whether you want to or not.

Don't turn me into a landfill! Stop recklessly dumping waste into me. Build effective wastewater treatment systems, control emissions from your factories. Don't turn me into a dead ocean just for profit margins.

Responsibility is not just a slogan! If you truly care about reputation and the future, act now. Don't just sponsor a few environmental campaigns and continue ravaging me. Set sustainable standards, leave a positive legacy for future generations, not just massive waste dumps and contaminated rivers.

I have been patient for too long. But I too have limits. If you do not change, nature will retaliate. Rising sea levels, increasingly violent storms, extreme weather—these will be the reminders I send you. And then, however wealthy you are, you cannot buy back a green Earth.

Think about it. Act now, before it's too late!

The Ocean.
